A Bunch of Random

It’s the first Thursday of the month so that means it’s time for another recipe box swap. As always, Randi, at I Have to Say, is hosting and this month it’s a no-theme month, so we can post one of our favorite recipes.

Photobucket

I have a new favorite this month! When we had our quilty peep sewing day last weekend, Peep Jewels brought an awesome Lemon Dessert. I LOVE creamy foods and nuts and this recipe combines the two. Jewels has very kindly allowed me to share this recipe — I think you’ll like it, especially if you need something good for your next friend or family get-together. You can find the recipe HERE. Thanks Jewels for sharing your great recipe!  (Excuse that stray nut in the creamy top, it jumped up there from the crust.)

Lemon Dessert

I’ve recently been given several awards and {gasp} I can’t remember who they’ve been from.  Two that I do remember were from the adorable Petits Details and Not-So-Plain Jane.  They both have beautiful blogs that I enjoy reading, and just like Jewel’s Lemon Dessert, I think you’ll enjoy them too.  If you’ve given me an award and I’ve forgotten it, I’m so sorry — it’s a well known fact here in ThimbleannaLand that I’m forgetful and that I’m just awful with awards.  They make me blush.  Anyway, thanks are in order, so THANK YOU.  I do very much appreciate the blog love!

And while we’re on the subject of extreme blogging kindness and my awful manners, Ms. Geranium sent me a cute little Valentine pillow and I’m dreadfully late in expressing my thanks. In my defense, apparently the postman was fondling my pillow, because the postal service had it for 2 1/2 weeks. It could have gone to Scotland and back twice in that amount of time! So, THANK YOU Sharon, I love my new little pillow and I’m looking forward to adding it to my Valentine decorations every year.  Isn’t it cute?

Sharon's Gift

Thanks to Woollie Wanderings (another fabulous new discovery) I found out that the woman who did all those teeny tiny sweaters for Coraline lives right here in Indiana. If you haven’t been to her website, you should check it out — her art is a-m-a-z-i-n-g. (And look Cassie — she has 10 yr. old triplets, too!)

After the last post, Miss Marzie asked if she could see more of the pendants that the quilty peeps and I made last weekend. Of course you can … and please excuse my poor manners!  We shamelessly copied some of the Keep Calm and Carry On knock-offs.  We also tried a new thing this time … we put fabric on the back side of some of them.  It worked out surprisingly well.  This one is 2 x 2 inches.

Pendants

Can you read this one ok?  Is says I Am (next time I’ll put I’m) a Material Girl (want to see my fabric?)  I really like the fabric that we put on the back of this one.  This one is 1 x 3 inches.

Pendants

This one is probably my favorite, with my all-time favorite quote from Despair.com.  They have some REALLY funny stuff over there and I’ve been a huge fan for years.  And boy, if there’s ever been a better time for their de-motivational stuff, now is it!

Pendants

And finally, I’ll leave you with a shot of my two little buddies. Whenever I’m on the computer, they insist on lying on the desk by me. I put them on the floor…they jump back up…I put them on the floor…they jump back up…over and over again. I finally gave up and put a blanket up here to protect the desk. I figured I could spend all my time messing with the kitties, or I could get something done. TheManoftheHouse is having a Cow. But then, he’s in the other room and the kitties know that. ;-)  These are going to be two very sad kitties when little Paul has to go back home.  ;-(

Two Kitties

Whew!  That’s it.  I’m sure you’re relieved — if you’re still with me — I heart you!  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Is it strange that I’m still thinking about your brie appetizer? I keep going back to the picture. The lemon dessert looks yummy too.

I love your little pendants. Keep calm and have a cupcake, indeed! What great advice. The other two square ones (procrastination and laziness) seem to be my daughter’s mottos. You wouldn’t have been speaking to her by any chance? haha.

  2. Anna, I LOVE the new banner–Think Spring!
Those charms are just the cutest thangs. Are they hard to make?
Using the fabric on the other side is great.

  3. I used to make the dessert quite often – before the word “diet” was a daily part of my vocabulary! We called it “Lemon Lush” and it is yummmmmmmy! I love the pendants – especially the material girl one. A tutorial would be nice (hint, hint).
    And your kitties are adorable!

  4. So much fun stuff in here! Congrats on the awards – you are very deserving :)

The pendants are very cute – I might have to have my Joe teach me to use his iron someday . . . though I do tend to be accident prone!

  5. the pendants are clever! and I love the picture of the cats. I have 2 cats and really feel like they rule the roost..or tell us what to do indirectly. Your Manofthehouse might as well give
    up.

  6. The lemony dessert looks delicious! Those pendents are fabulous, love them all especially the material girl saying. Okay, a little bit of teasing now… Did you say your cats are laying on a “blanket”?? Looks like a “quilt”! My kids are constantly teasing me that I make blankets not quilts. I have to always correct them, after all that hard work, how could it possibly be just a blanket??

  7. OMG that dessert looks wonderful…I’m drooling on the keyboard…please thank Jewels for me. The pendants are so cute…man I wish I lived closer so I could come and play…and those sweet kitties…love em’

  8. Oh, Anna, all these random things….but I’ve been waiting for your reaction to “Lost” this week! Thoughts??

  9. Love the banner…I haven’t had that dessert in years, now I want to go and make it. The pendants are wonderful, my favorite one is the “material girl”. Have a great weekend.

  10. Good morning! I made your brie appetizer for my mini group on Tuesday night and it was a big hit!! Thank you for sharing that yummy “dessert”, we didn’t even need the crackers, although the salt in the crackers set off the sweet in the puff just right. I am going to try this lemon dessert on Sunday. My family all comes for lunch on Sunday and I had decided to go Italian this Sunday with spaghetti and tortilini(sp?) and a salad. I think your lemon dessert will be perfect! I just hope mine looks as pretty as yours.

  11. i’m still with you and i heart you, too. LOL.

i love the pendants…procrastinate now and panic later…that’s so great. i won a give away from someone’s blog and i got a calendar with artwork similar to that for each month. they are so fun. i think march’s is “wear sandals and pretend it’s warm.” good advice, if you ask me. :)

  12. I copied the recipe – thank you, Peep Jewels!! I love all things lemon. Those pendants are wonderful, and the sayings all fit my rather warped sense of humor perfectly.
The kitties are just too cute. I think it’s great they want to be where you are.
    Have a wonderful weekend!!

  13. Me and the Sistas were just talking last night about making those pendants. Deb is going to teach us. WOOHOOOO I love them! The pie looks so yummy. Is it fat free?? I’m just asking??

  14. Well, that dessert is hard to look at when I am suppose to be good. It looks delicious. Those pendants are darling….you are ever so clever. :) Thanks for the burp cloth love. :) They were fun to make.

  15. So much wonderfulness in one post!!!!! And how have I missed this recipe box thingie?? I have been a bad blog hopper. Those pendants are so amazingly cute!!!! What a great post…ok now I’m drooling!!!

  16. Hi Lady,

Just checking in to see what is up in your world…my goodness, you are busy & loved; not a bad combination at all.

All seems well, and that is a wonderful thing!

    Take care,

    Cherri

  17. I’ve been wanting to learn to solder charms. One of nephews has promised to show me how, but he lives away now, so it will take some real planning to make it happen. I’ve enjoyed seeing yours, and all the things you and your friends have been making and cooking. It’s a wonderful thing to have friends like that, and invisible friends are quite wonderful too. Thanks for being such a patient and good friend to me Anna.

Love the photo of your feline buddies!

  18. thanks for the link to the lemon dessert Anna! your pendants from last week are great! I know my husband has a couple of soldering guns around here somewhere, thanks for the inspiration!

  19. That desert looks divine! My family loves lemon, so I’m sure that they’ll love this.

I love LOVE the material girl pendant. Are you selling them? Maybe I should learn to solder – Bwaahaahaa – but then my husband would shoot me. So maybe not such a good idea. LOL Maybe if I make him the lemon dessert and THEN haul out the soldering equipment . . .

  20. Talk about the best randomness ever Anna. The Lemon Dessert is on my to make list, we love everything about lemons at our house, and your pendants look like so much fun to wear and make!

  21. Hi Anna,
What a yummy looking dessert ( I love lemon squares) Your little pendants are so funky- They look like so much fun- I like the Material girl quote..

Your cats are grand surveyors of all that is important to them…
And of course Sharon’s pillow is really lovely too.
Fun post Anna- It is just so like you – lots of fun and all around lovely..
Hope all is well with you and yours,
    Regards,
    Anna ( aka Quiltmom)

  22. Wow, this was a gorgeous bunch of random! Hm, the dessert looks really yummy and I feel I shouldn’t make that for me too…I probably couldn’t stop eating.
The pillow Sharon sent to you is gorgeous! And so are the pendants (can’t decide which one I love most…but the ‘Material Girl…’ could make it…;o) ).
    Hugs, Julia

  23. I spent more time at the weekend trying to get the cat off the table than actually quilting (oh and then the machine seized up – happy happy joy joy…) A friend of mine has lately been sporting a badge or button as you’d say saying ‘Eat Cake And Carry On’. Indeed…

  24. I love that lemon thing!! Did you save me a piece? The pendants are all so cute. I love the picture of your buddies…they have a mind of their own don’t they?

  25. I love your new banner. That’s a good project for me today… get rid of my snowmen banner even though we had a blizzard and 8 inches of snow yesterday.

I also love your pendants and your baked cheese…
OK, the potatoes look yummy too!

So glad you’re enjoying Lord of the Glen. We loved it. Most of our favorite series are from the UK. We even watch BBC more than any other station.
    Hugs…
    Joni

  26. Oh, yes please to the lemon deliciousness. I wish I had some right now.
You always have something great to share.
    Love,
the Queen of the Material World

  27. I have been feeling the urge to knit socks again, since I can’t get myself to knit anything big anymore, and I MUST get some of that yarn, and I found it online, yippee!

  28. haven’t been around much lately… love the cozies and am going to have to have the granddaughter help me make some pendants. She learned how to make stained glass in 3D Art so I’m sure she could help me make a few – and I just love the sayings!
I got a loom! ‘Course Cami wanted me to get the ginormus-room sized one – but that’s not me – I got an Ashford Knitters loom which will do about 20″ wide pieces and it folds up so I can take it with me. I’m so excited – I’m taking a class Sat. The first time Cam and I tried to warp it, we did it backwards…of course that says alot about us..hehe. I still haven’t caught up on all of my blog reading. Take care of yourself – Always, Robin

  29. Anna, I have been thinking about your little charms you made a while back. I finally found a charm at Michaels and it’s about a 2 x 2 also. It has an opening in the side to slip things into. I would live to put my cupcake fabric in one side like you did and a saying on the other. How did you do it? Did you make the fabric stiff? and where did you get the saying and make it little. I know these are dumb questions but I just want to make on so badly, and you are the pro you know….Thanks, Tracey
