Little Cotton Rabbits

Boy, you guys are a ruthless crowd!  Thanks for all your squirrel comments — I had a good time reading how much you love or mostly don’t love rodents LOL.  I’d like to re-cover my patio cushions, but if that darn squirrel is just going to eat them again, I probably won’t waste my time.  Maybe the patio chair fairy will come along and take care of the problem for me.

In the meantime, it’s been a slow week here in ThimbleannaLand.  Easter has snuck (is that a word?) up on me this year and I’m so late with decorations that I think I’ll just skip it.  The one Easter thing I did do this year though, was to knit these little egg cozies.

Rabbit Egg Cozy

I can hardly bear their cuteness!  I’ve been a huge fan of Little Cotton Rabbits since I found her shortly after I started blogging.  I used to stalk Julie and send her e-mails begging her to sell her patterns, but one day she very politely asked us to stop bugging her.  So I did, but that didn’t mean I loved those bunnies any less.  And then, a month or so ago, Julie announced that she would sell a pattern to knit these little egg cozies.  I think I screamed out loud when I read the news and then I bought the pattern as soon as I could!

Julie’s pattern is exquisite.  It’s beautifully illustrated with VERY clear instructions that are so easy to follow.  I do hate to gush, but I really think it’s the prettiest pattern I’ve ever purchased.  The hardest part about the whole process was finding the yarn.  I looked on-line for the yarns that she called for, but I didn’t see the colors that I wanted.  I ended up going to my local Michael’s and purchasing some Paton’s Grace 100% mercerized cotton and crossing my fingers in hopes that it would work.

Rabbit Egg Cozy

I’m very pleased with how they turned out, although I’d like to see if I can find a bit darker color for the rabbit skin.  I was hoping to make enough for each place setting at our Easter dinner, but I don’t think that will happen — maybe next year?

Rabbit Egg Cozy

If you’re a knitter and you want to make a Little Cotton Rabbit Egg Cozy, there’s still time!  You can download Julie’s pattern for a ridiculously low price HERE.  (Thank you Julie for such a great pattern!) And if you’re not a knitter, Julie’s little rabbits are whispering to you to learn how to knit LOL!

XOXO,
Anna

P.S.  I was surfing around the other day and got lost somewhere and stumbled upon this very funny post about leaving a little message in a hotel room.  Oh, how tempted I am to do the same thing next time I travel!

P.P.S.S.  Did you know they’re making a movie of Where the Wild Things Are?  Oh.  My.  Gosh!  I can’t wait!!!  You can check out the trailer here — but bring a napkin for Wild Thing costume drooling.  Now, if they’d just make a movie out of my all time favorite children’s story, I’d be in hog heaven!

  1. Those rabbits are so cute! I can’t knit but I have friend who does! I should just buy the pattern and the yarn and have her do a couple for me!

  2. I’m sure I used to read that book to my kids too … they’re now 26, 24 and 16!!!

  3. What sweet rabbits – how wonderful your Easter table will look :) Hope you and your family have a wonderful Easter Anna!

  4. Your egg cozie bunnies are so adorable. I have been adoring her bunnies also. I have been tempted to buy her pattern, is it difficult, I am a clumsy beginner and it looks very challenging, being so small.
They will look so wondeful on your table. Happy Easter.

  5. First off your technique is great. The bunnies look perfect. They reall are adorable and I great idea. I also love how you photographed them. Love the clean white background with the white egg cups. Shows off the bunnies so well. Nice post. Very magazine looking Anna!

I fixed my problem. Not the internet- ME! duh thanks though.

  6. I met Julie yesterday at the Bloggery Picnic and was a little star struck! I got to see one of her rabbit cozies up close – so beautiful. Yours are beautiful too, and I think maybe I should get the pattern and attempt some of my own. x

  7. Oh, my goodness gracious! Those are the cutest little bunnies I have EVER seen. I don’t knit, so I will just have to drool at yours. You did a great job!

  8. The bunny cosy covers are just the cutest thing going! I have reread this post a few times today just to admire the sweet bunnies. Oh, and I bought the pattern too!! I hope I can handle it.

  9. Oh my gosh!!! Those bunnies are so cute. Really, really adorable. Did you knit them on double pointed needles or straight ones? I’d like to buy the pattern, but I don’t do double points very well.

I love Paton’s Grace. I have some varigated in my stash and have been wanted to make little face cloths with it.

  10. HMMMM – those are certainly very, very cute! Reading your story reminded me of when I used to bug you to sell one of your bunnies and then finally I managed to ‘win’ one. :-)

  11. SWEET little bunnies! You knit so nicely, Anna. And your photos are always so professional!

Thanks for the heads up on “Where the Wild Things Are.” It’s one of Victor’s favorite books. He picks it off the shelf and says “where ARE, where ARE!” Brian does a great job enacting the wild rumpus.

    XO

  12. Gorgeous bunnies Anna – there’s something so endearing about Julie’s designs isn’t there? Lovely lovely pics of them, all-in-a-row.

Top tip about Where the wild things are!

    Poor me.

  14. Triple cuteness! You know I want to learn to knit, SO, are they beginner’s level, well, are they? Because they are just the thing that would get me knitting.
    Happy Easter!

  15. Oh Anna,
What adorable bunny egg warmers. I love them! I want them! You are soooooo talented.

If you’re serious about learning digital scrapbooking we could work something out. We could meet half way at a hotel or cute bed & breakfast. Food for thought!

    Easter blessings to you!
    Joni

  16. I love Little Cotton Rabbits too! My sister turned me on to her, but at the time I was really swooning over those knitted cupcakes. Your little bunny egg cozies are too cute!

    Happy Easter

  17. OMG those bunnies could not possibly be any cuter…oh I wish I could knit! Where the Wild Things Are was Josh’s favorite book in the world…we read it a zillion times…now Hampton LOVES it!

  18. If the computer would have let me comment last night when I wanted to I’d have had the first comment here! Pout…..But the door was barred and I couldn’t get in. Pout, again.

You’ve got to stop dangling all these juicy carrots under my nose, Anna [those cotton rabbits are adorable!] Do I have to put up pictures of my UFO mountain, for you to realize it isn’t kind to tempt me to start anything else?

  19. Oh, your knitted bunnies are absolutely adorable!!! I love them! Are those Williams-Sonoma egg holders??? Very cute! I want! I want! LOL! ;)

Happy Easter! It’s Hippity hoppity on it’s way! :)

  20. OMG those have got to be the cutest thing ever. Next to your squirrel of course. lololol
Seriously they are adorable. I wish I knitted. Just cant get my hands to do that stuff.

  21. Now you’re just teasing me … you know I can’t knit and there you are with those wonderful bunnies!!!!
Wishing you all a wonderful Easter weekend
    Kimx

  22. Oh Anna your bunnies are so cute!!! I love Julie’s cupcake and bear patterns too, because they are knit. So many of the little animal patterns are crochet. Your table is going to look so nice, what a great idea. Don’t feel bad Easter “snuck” up on me too!

  23. Those are way too cute Anna. I am going to have to ear mark that site. I love the Christmas tree bears.

Easter totally “snuck” up on me this year too…and I have 22 people coming over for dinner. I think I better get moving and start planning my menu. I work well under pressure.

  24. Your bunnies are delightful! But how jealous are you going to be when I tell you that I spent a lot of time at Wednesday’s picnic sitting chatting with the Queen of Blogging, Mrs Cotton Rabbit herself?!!! AND she even knitted some of Fred’s second sock which is currently on the needles!

AND…….. she is EVEN NICER than you could possibly have imagined (and I really had imagined her as being very nice indeed!)

  25. Oh my heck! Those things are adorable! I want em! I don’t knit! I tried and tried. And your photos are fabulous of them! Totally smiling! Thanks for the smile.

  26. Those rabbit egg cosies are just fabulous, I’m almost tempted to get the pattern and make some even though we don’t eat boiled eggs!

  27. Oh my, your rabbits are absolutely exquisite! I’m crazy in love with them and will pop over and see about buying the pattern. All I can do today is gush as what you’ve created truly is beautiful.

  28. OMG! I’m not worthy! Your bunnies are every bit as cute as Julies, and that’s saying something. I laughed at your post because that could have been me. I begged her to publish her pattern too and suggested that maybe she should write a pattern book….like she’d never thought of that! I’m so excited that she published the egg cozy pattern though, and I can’t believe how cheap it is. I would have paid ten dollars for it.

  29. Your “Little Rabbits” bunnies are adorable! I too just love all of Julie’s little cuties. If only I had time to knit – I would snap this one up in a jiffy. . . (In fact I might just anyway. . . for that rainy day!) OH!!!! how fun! Happy Easter!
    xo, Bren

  30. Holy smacks girlfriend those little rabbits are freakin cute and will look great on the table. Better watch your guests, they might wander home with them, LOL.

Happy Easter sweet peep – Karen

  31. awww now Anna, they turned out sooooo cute! I ordered her pattern too but just haven’t started them yet but can’t wait to! I’m just now getting the hang of this little knit chicken from susan b. anderson’s site and hope to finish it soon. I’m knitting with some yarn very similar to paton’s grace and it’s swinging my pendulum ever so slightly towards kind regards to knitting my own pair of socks. I’ll keep you updated!

  32. Hmmm, I’ll have to put those on the list for next year. They sure turned out beyond adorable!!! Her bunnies and such are so cute, it’s great that she’s released a pattern. I’ve never tried that yarn but it looks like it worked great! I’ve used some cotton-ease for “bunny nuggets” but it’s so dang splitty!

  33. These buns are the cutie-est! I didn’t know they are making a movie of “Where the Wild Things Are”! I am so excited. My kids and I read and read that book together.

    Jody

  34. I’ve loved LCR too… but from afar since I don’t know how to knit. Oh how I wish I did. I love the bunnies you made and now I really must learn how!!!!

HA… I loved the bed bugs. That is just to cool.

  35. Hullooooooo Anna! I am soooooo far behind in my blogging that the comments have been closed on some of your posts! Waaaaahhhh! That’ll teach me not to blog more often, won’t it?
I LOVE your purse thingy – what a wonderfully thoughtful gift! I must make one of two or three…
As for the squirrels, since I have gray squirrels and the smaller red ones, I know how destructive they can be. They are ripping apart your furniture for the lovely stuffing, which they pad their home sweet home with. Since we don’t have padded furniture for them to tear apart, they rip out insulation (wherever they can get to it) and use that instead! Bless their pointed little heads.
These little bunnies are just the sweetest little buggers! You are a knitting temptress, my friend.

  36. The bunnies are adorable! I might have to get that pattern. Although Easter is now past.

LOVED My Father’s Dragon. We used to read it to the kids, too. I really miss reading all the kids books now that they’re older. I know I could still read them, but it’s just not the same. *sigh*

  37. OMG, they are way beyond cute! I think the term I once heard was “toxic cute” which I think of only in the most positive way. OMG, OMG
    thanks for sharing.

  38. Anna, these are so adorable! I love them, and we all love Where the Wild Things Are in our family. My mother in law bought each family a copy when our children were small. One of my nephews is named Max, and we’re big fans of Maurice Sendak in general. Love his Nutcracker Ballet set too. Seattle was the first to use it, and oh my, how all the children took to it!

Thank you for the sweet birthday greetings. I love the friendship quilt you posted about too. Old fashioned colors and patterns are my favorites, and this quilt looks like an old one. Just lovely.
