A Post For Isabelle

Many of you know my good blog friend Isabelle is a college English teacher in Scotland and she’s always posting something clever, witty or funny.  A few days ago, Isabelle had a post for me and you must go read it.  Run over there … it’s a short post and you won’t understand this next part unless you do … I’ll wait.

Tap…

Tap…

Tap….

Funny, no?  Very Funny!  But, dear Isabelle, I’m afraid your vision of me doesn’t match reality.  This is more along the lines of my fantasy:

Man in Quilt

And look!  He’s wearing your quilt, standing in the road just down the hill from Edinburgh Castle.   You girls in Scotland see all the best Man Candy!!!

Funny that Isabelle’s student should prompt that post just now.  Exactly one year ago today, TheManoftheHouse and I were packing our bags to get on the plane the next day for our little adventure to Scotland to visit with Isabelle and Mr. Life.

Scotland Shot

To celebrate, I made Shepherd’s Pie for dinner tonight (so perfect for our cold rainy weather) and I’ve been looking through the pictures I took last year.

Scotland Shot

It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year already!  We had such a great time and saw so many beautiful things.

Scotland Shot

I love the thatched roof in the above picture.  If only we could have a roof like that on our house.  Those rocks crack me up but with the high winds we experienced just on our trip, I’m sure they’re a necessity.

Scotland Shot

We saw moss everywhere.  Beautiful, soft, plush, green moss.  I have a whole folder of moss pictures on my hard drive.

Scotland Shot

Looking back in my archives, I didn’t really blog very much about the trip, except for the visit with Mr. and Mrs. Life, meeting Ms. Locket, and our fun little highland encounter with Bin Laden.  And by then, I figured you were sick of hearing about the trip.

Scotland Shot

So, thank you for indulging me while I wistfully look back — hoping to return to Scotland soon.
Oh wait– here’s a picture just in time for Halloween.

Scotland Shot

Ok, one more parting shot — black kitties for Halloween.  They’re the Life kitties, Sirius and Cassie.  Very sweet — and I miss them.  I hope you’re giving them a steady diet of prawns and yarn, Isabelle!

Scotland Shot

And thanks for your funny post and reminding me of our wonderful trip.  As for the rest of you, I hope you have a great weekend!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Awww… good memories. What a great trip for you and the ManoftheHouse.

You made me laugh again with that K/QUilt picture. I think I’m just going to keep you on speed dial or something.

  2. Hahaha, that’s pretty funny! Men in quilts! Was that trip really a whole year ago?? And just for the record, personally I never get sick of people’s trip pictures and memories. I still have the postcard up that you sent me on the bulletin board….so that every now and then I can glance at it wistfully and sigh…..one day….

  3. Much as I love quilts, I think the colouring is all wrong and tartan looks better. What a laugh.
Perhaps he meant men under quilts??? But they wouldn’t be on every corner would they.

  4. Too funny! Gorgeous pictures Anna, I want to go there I would watch those kitties in a heartbeat…can I be your alternate??? I made Shepherds Pie the other night, I’ll have to try your recipe next time :)

  5. Great post Anna! I love the quilt wearing man, specially since it is Isabelle’s quilt he has stolen. haha.
Love your photos, thankyou for sharing them, & the spooky view of Cassie & Sirius.

  6. Now that cracked me up!! Quilts could be the new kilts……so much more choice in colour and pattern – no more stripes and checks….we could have flowers and spots…..

Your photos of Scotland are just perfect – such deep rich colours! Last night, the sky was clear and the autumnal colours were almost glowing in their depth…..just looking from my window across the roofs of the city to the river was magical…..

  7. Anna,it is so funny you would have that picture of the fellow with the quilt kilt, I have a guy with a drunkard’s path speedo in the basement.(it ony amounts to about a block,,, lol.) The Kitties look like Sophie and Sabrina (I told them yesterday it was going to be their first Halloween. :)

  8. Your photos are beautiful, they make me want to go to Scotland at once.
The quilt-kilt picture is so funny.
That is truely a nic e phantasy.

  9. Love the man in a quilt! It made me smile on a day when our new (that’s NEW as in just got) computer was playing silly b*****s with me. Thanks!

You can’t resist men in quilts?

  10. Anna
I was just thinking about you and your trip to Scotland. Planning one for the spring and getting in the mood. Men in quilts works for me.

  11. In reply to Jodie’s post…NOTHING! (i’m told) they wear absolutely nothing under them. chilly, hey? Such wonderful pictures – so rich. Seems as if you attract people with the same sense of humor. There is a shop in downtown Seattle that sells nothing but kilts! Will you girls be hanging around there on your next vaca there? If you fork over the $5 Sat, we need pics Anna dear…
    Always, Robin

  12. Being a Scot living in Scotland, I have to tell you and all your readers that nothing is worn under the kilt/quilt – it’s all in perfect working order. :oD

  13. Also being a Scot living in Scotland, I’d like disagree with the last claim! Scotland is (sometimes) a chilly and windy place and no one sensible would wear nothing under his kilt. Of course, not everyone is sensible… but we’d never heard this no-underwear theory till about 10 years ago. (I have to admit to having done very little personal research into the subject, but 100% of the men whose underwear I have any information about wear their underpants under their kilts. (Possibly my sample group isn’t large enough to satisfy a statistician, granted.))

Sirius and Cassie are very honoured to feature in your blog again. But I’m upset that you’ve cut my beautiful quilt up to make it into a kilt!!! Give me it back at once!

  14. LOL Allow me to explain my claim. Of course men wear underwear under their kilts – as you say it’s pretty chilly here (sometimes) – but it’s the stuff in the underwear that’s not worn.

Okay, time to quit whilst I’m ahead! LOL

  15. Love it! Scotland is on the top of my list of places I want to go to once my kids get through college. I went to Edinburgh during December when I was in college. It was cold, but I loved it…perfect place to sit and knit.

  16. Oh it looks like a gorgeous place to visit. I love those mossed roofs too, very beautiful. Oh by the way you asked me what a souvlaki was – meat, lettuce, tomato, onion all spread with a bit of garlic sauce and wrapped in pita bread, or mountain bread and you just eat! Very very nice.

  17. thanks for the walk down memory lane of your trip to Scotland Anna! Cute man quilt/kilt. You’re too funny!!
p.s. those kitties do look like sweeties!

  18. perhaps once a year you could post something similar to this one, but head it with:
i’ve been to europe several times, you haven’t and i’ll rub it in on an annual basis.
    gorgeous photos of scotland.

  19. LOL..I remember this photo from when you got back from your trip. Some pictures are just worth repeating over and over and over and over….

  20. Ah, the memories. A kilted young Glaswegian once offered me the pennies in his sporan to buy me a bag of chips on hogmanay. It was rather romantic. I was a d*mn sight younger than I am now!

  21. I remember the posts of Scotland and the hot men in kilts. Now this man in a quilty-kilt is quite becoming, isn’t he though?

Loved the flashback pics — especially the grave!
    OOOoooooaaaahhhhh ahhhhhhh!

    Jody

  22. What exactly does a Scot wear under his quilt? Just wondering. LOL!

Scotland…I really must visit some day. It is altogether too lovely.

    Take care, Anna~
    Cassie

  23. just leaving a quick note – thanks for checking my blog!
Yes! I am one and the same Jone Hallmark that designs for Embroidables – aren’t they great?
