Welcome, Fall
October 10, 2010 on 4:26 pm | In Around the House | 40 CommentsWe’re having a beautiful fall weekend here in ThimbleannaLand. The temperatures have been unseasonably warm, but this week, the trees have started to change and I’m finally feeling like summer is behind us and winter isn’t too far away.
I’ve spent a little time out in the yard today and it seems like Mother Nature is feeling it too. Spider webs are everywhere — not only on a lot of our shrubs, but in the corners of my windows and doors too.
The squirrels are fattening up and busy burying nuts. I’m always happy to see them too busy to be chewing on my patio chairs.
I’m fattening up for winter too. I made homemade bread yesterday and slathered it with some jam that we made a few weeks ago. Yum, Yum. I always crave comfort food this time of year and I blame it on Mother Nature.
And lookieee here! The binding is on my wall hanging. My fingers are sooo happy that the quilting is finally over. Finished wall hanging coming to a blog near you soon.
I hope you’ve been lucky enough to have a beautiful weekend too!
XOXO,
Anna
P.S. I’ve also managed to play on the blog a little. A new fall header, and just in time for some of your Christmas sewing, I’ve put all the Bolts of Bella on sale for 20% off.

Thanks for stopping by!

Our trees are changing too and oh so many BIG spiderwebs – shudder. We went to the park yesterday and found quite a few half eaten conkers where the squirrels have been busy. Love the new header too :-)

Anna- I love those tiny pumpkins in your header! They are so cute. We’re still waiting for fall here in GA. Summer seems to have snuck in the back door for another appearance. It was 85 today! :( I so want to wear sweaters. Why won’t the weather cooperate? lol I cannot wait to see your wall hanging in its entirety. The colors are scrumptious!

Love your new header! Oh the leaves are beautiful! Thanks for sharing those for this Florida girl! Love ‘em! Oh the bread looks yummy!

Your signs of Autumn photos are gorgeous! As you’ve seen, all our leaves are already on the ground :(. Fall never lasts long here…but winter does.
I’ve been eating too much lately too. Am I fattening up for hibernation? I wish…I’d love to sleep through those cold, snowy days.
Happy Thanksgiving from Canada. And Happy Columbus Day!

Yay! LOVE it! When I saw your post pop up in my google reader, I said to self, “self, I bet it’s time for a new thimble photo!” Yay! Self was right! It’s ADORABLE as always! ooxx

P.S. In case anyone is wondering what’s on my Christmas List this year. I think a set of notecards with Thimbleanna headers would make a really cool gift! Not that I’m hinting around or anything….

Yes, the trees are changing, but 90 degrees in October in Ohio?!?! Just not right.

Love your new header and the sneak peek of the quilt!
We had an amazingly warm weekend here, lots of sunshine and wonderful weather to spend some time in the garden which is filled with fungusses and spiderwebs.

Anna the spiders know it’s soon time for Halloween and they are decorating lol. I know this time of year there seem to be spider webs everywhere. I love your quilt and fabrics it looks so pretty and hand sewing the binding is always one of my favorite parts. Love your new banner, and I don’t even want to talk about the comfort food eating that has been going on around here…..

Love the new header – so autumnal! It sounds like you’ve had a lovely weekend! I have too – productive – National Trust work, knitting group, dinner with friends, hall ceiling no longer red, hall walls painted with undercoat, curtains now hanging in the bedroom….all in all a good deal of deeds dealt with!
Have a great week!

I didn’t comment on the last post because I read it at work, but it was so nice to read you being very slightly grumpy! Makes me feel better about my occasional less-than-Pollyanna blog posts…

Anna, I love the new header! So clever. I can’t wait to see your completed quilt. We had beautiful weather this weekend too and I got off the sofa and enjoyed it. Which would explain why I’m so tired tonight! Settling in for some hand quilting and the Phillies game…

Thanks for the lovely Autumn photos! How I envy you! I don’t even have the excuse for comfort food in this constant heat we are having here. Well, I’m eating it anyway, so there you go ;). Have a good week ahead.
Vreni
PS: Can’t wait to see your wall hanging

c’mon fall!!!
i love this time of year too. but then again, i love every time of year, except for sweltering heat time of year, but every OTHER time.
very cute header. :applauds you fervently
congrats on finishing quilting on wallhanging. it’ll look nice on my deck when you’re done with it. right next to my huge american flag that is painted on wood and hanging on the house. think: brigita goes americana – as the theme. works for me.
we just got back from riverbank. you don’t ever need to visit there, just fyi. unless, of course, you plan on stealing my MIL from me and keeping her for yourself, then you might want to drop on over. so as i was driving through walnut orchards, i was thinking to myself that i was in miss jean’s neck o’ the woods!
well… it’s off to bed with me. we had 3 e.r. visits this week in our house and very little sleep.
:waves whilst yawning

Hi Anna,

Can’t wait to see your HST quilt!

Love your beautiful new header! And homemade bread and jam, can’t think of a better way to welcome fall. Makes me want to blow the dust off my bread machine and actually use it. lol

we went north this weekend and enjoyed the colors and smells of Fall in New Hampshire and Maine. We are still pretty ‘green’ here. Love the mini pumpkin header!

Yes, it’s been beautiful in Hoosierland. Sweating in October? Strange, huh?

I love your new header – one day I will finally understand the instructions to change mine!! I love autumn colours – if you gave me a pile of fabrics, I would pick out the autumn colours first! We were supposed to have lovely weather at the weekend – it finally arrived this afternoon, long after Malcolm’s sister had gone home! Never mind, she enjoyed her visit and being waited on hand and foot!

Love the new header. I noticed it straight off. It is fabulous. And that jam is yummy looking on the bread. I’m calorie counting. I figure I could eat that – but pretty much nothing else – for dinner!
Comment by nanette — October 12, 2010 #
ooooo! pumpkins and thimbles!!! too cool!
i hate squirrels, especially Mr. Nutz – i don’t really want him to run out into oncoming traffic, but i would really like for him to go hang out in someone else’s trees for a while.
homemade bread … please, ma’am, may i have some more?
Comment by dianne — October 12, 2010 #
Ohio this past eweek felt like summer still, but back home again, it has a definite feeling of Fall—Florida style of course!

Oh I love the new banner, so wonderfully autumnal and joyous.

Delicious new banner! Were those candy pumpkins?!
Comment by Dianne — October 13, 2010 #
Love the pumpkins, love the fall color. Could be just a touch jealous. We don’t get much in the way of fall color here. Basically we have green and brown, and then naked for our foliage choices. Can’t wait to see your wall hanging. And comfort food is a must – year round!
