Photo Scavenger Hunt: February
February 28, 2011 on 9:24 pm | In Photo Challenge | 45 CommentsTime for the February Photo Scavenger Hunt, hosted by Kathy! I love this scavenger hunt because a) it’s so fun to see pictures of the same thing from all over the world, and b) there are some really fun interpretations of the same word (“eye” was a good one this month!) My photos aren’t from exciting London, like Kathy’s and Abi’s, but I still have fun anyway. And I love that the monthly assignment gets me out exploring my neck o’ the woods.
So, here are my shots for this month:
A Big Truck: I did not text and drive!
A Big Round Clock: Our federal courthouse — er, maybe that’s county courthouse.
A Bridge: Pitiful. I waited too long in the month for this picture and I’m sure there are much more beautiful bridges around here. Rust is beautiful though, right?
An Instrument: Poor neglected piano — I had to dust her keys before I could take the picture.
A Newspaper Headline: Interesting juxtaposition of Luxury and Default.
A Park Bench: Well sort-of — it’s along a running path out in the boonies.
A Postbox: Classic model. I love how the blue paint faded.
Eyes: Young and wrinkle-free.
Something Heart-Shaped: The heart doctors.
Something Red: Are you seeing red? {Har Har}.
Something with Stripes: Tell me zebras aren’t the first thing that pops into your mind when someone says “stripes”.
Your Shoes: I bought these for quilt market in the fall and had to quit wearing them on the first day — I spend all my time crawling around on the floor and I was rubbing the finish off of the toes. Looks like those toes need polishing again. These may be the most comfy shoes I’ve ever had — I love ‘em.
Thanks for hosting Kathy! There’s a flickr group if you want to see more photos — there are some really fun photos uploaded this month. I can’t wait to see what the March assignment will be!
XOXO,
Anna

How sad that I wish gas was only $3.45 where I live…I had to pay $3.75 today…and that was UNLEADED! ugh!!!!!

Yep…I paid 3.89 today…for regular unleaded! Love the shoes…what brand?
Comment by Mary ann — February 28, 2011 #
I love seeing all the results of these photo scavenger hunts. Great shoes btw!

Excellent collection of photos! Your petrol/diesel is a lot cheaper than ours – don’t get me started on that one (a great part of what we pay is tax and duty). As for the contrast between rich and poor – the gap is widening here too. Love the shoes – and the socks!!

Oh it still looks so cold where you are – some snow lying around I see!
Rust *is* beautiful.
And your postbox is a treat – I’m so used to our red UK boxes, I would walk past your blue one if I had a letter in my hand. Ha!
:-)

Great photos

Great pics Anna! Such fun seeing the differences and similarities. Love the blue post box – our letter boxes are red too only not as cute as the English ones!
Comment by Louise — March 1, 2011 #
Great pictures Anna! And yes, your shot of “red” does make me see red. lol
And I love the shoes, which look great with your pretty hand-knit socks. :)

Love your photos Anna and great shoes (Born?), if so I know they are like walking on clouds..and you don’t want to scuff them!

I love seeing all the pictures for this scavenger hunt – it’s just like our 111 Group. As you say, it’s so interesting to see how differently others interpret the same ‘title’. I think you did really well with them … I look forward to looking at your subjects for March! :) xx
Comment by Kitty — March 1, 2011 #
darn, darn, darn….I totally forgot about this. I started taking photos but then…I’m not sure what happened. I’m going to try and shoot for March…”Sure” you say :)
Comment by Judy — March 1, 2011 #
Too fun! Your pictures are great! I’ll have to go check out the others now.
Comment by Kim — March 1, 2011 #
Great pictures…but can you clarify the petrol one…is that per litre or per gallon!?
Comment by Sew Create It - Jane — March 1, 2011 #
Hum….. your petro is a lot less costly than ours! Good old NY! lol Sounds like a fun project! When I studied photography, many many many many moons ago, I had lots of similar assignments. You might want to try photographing the same object from a different perspective. I had to do a whole 36 exposure (didn’t I say many many many many moons ago!LOL). I chose metal spiral stairs. Someone did a tub. Thanks for sharing! Cheers!

Why do I think I’ve mentioned the photo assignment before? Hum….. I need a cup of coffee before I leave comments! lol Cheers!

Love them! Off to check out flickr too!

Great pics. I love your shoes, they do look comfy. I was prevented from taking lots of great ‘musical instrument’ pictures by all the dust and smudges. That is sad :( We have at least four different instruments and I only got two pictures! I took my shoe picture last night!!

I’m going to need to give the march list a bit more thought than I have the last two, but I’m really loving this scavenger hunting!
I’ll be back to see your march photos in a few weeks, good luck!!

Oh, my gosh! I am cracking up laughing at your header!! It makes me think of the story my dad tells of my grandmother’s boxer, Baby. One year my great-grandmother bought Baby some boots. My grandfather put them on her and then they all sat and watched that poor dog trying walk by lifting one foot way up in the air at a time! Honestly. My mom said that she had never laughed so hard in her life.
Love all the photos, except that $3.45 a gallon for gas sign! Good night above! Ours is at $3.25 right now. I’m sure it will creep up. Stupid oil companies.
Is it weird that the first thing to pop into my head for stripes was a prison uniform?

And I’m sitting here thinking your petrol is cheap. Love all of the photos and it made me think about what I’d have taken.

Such good diversity of subject and yes I definitely see red and I imagine that truck driver does when he pays a few hundred to fill up his tanks.
Comment by Susan — March 2, 2011 #
Great pics. I even liked the rusty bridge. It’s got character. Hey, I’m liking your new blog banner! I had to look twice to find the thimbles. You’re a smartie.

okay, our gasoline is $3.85 a gallon right now!! i think i’m moving to Indiana. Please build a large inlaw’s quarters on the back of your property with a separate entrance. please build a tunnel from your dungeon to my place so we can visit without being caught. also, a commercial kitchen wouldn’t be half bad.
when i was in kindergarten, my best friend, Jenny D.(whose name was abbreviated to protect the innocent), was put into the OTHER kindergarten class. our classrooms had shared bathrooms that went between the two rooms like jack and jill bathrooms. we used to meet in the bathroom at designated times and sit on the floor with our feet touching, chatting about our day. we also were five and would lose track of time and be discovered, sitting on the bathroom floor, giggling away.
i thought of that story because of my tunnel. i can’t have a walkway cuz you have freaking snow in indiana and i’ll probably MELT. aaaaaanyway… i love your shoes. and i love your socks that you obviously knit and your rusty bridge, and your mailbox… and your gas prices!!!!

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!
