Five Other Things
September 13, 2012 on 8:33 pm | In Chat | 19 CommentsOops. We interrupt our regularly scheduled Top Five Things to bring you Five Other Very Important Things:
One.
Out to Sea has arrived in ThimbleannaLand!
I was very well behaved and limited my choices to mostly stash building stripes. I LOVE a good stripe — especially when well placed on a binding. And Sarah Jane’s stripes are fantastic. I have red, blue, butter and raspberry. Plus that super cute little chevron — I couldn’t resist it in the “water” colorway. And look at that adorable map! I LOVE LOVE that map so we had to have some! I can’t wait to see what projects will start to appear using this super cute map.
If you’re feeling the need for some stash builders or the map, you can find them HERE and they’re 20% off!
Two.
The Aurifil Block of the Month for September is up! It’s by Amy Ellis of Amy’s Creative Side and it’s the pretty autumn leaves you see below. Go to the Aurifil blog to read more about Amy and get the free pattern. And don’t forget to add your blocks to the Aurifil flickr page — there’s a free Aurifil thread drawing each month!
Three.
After a months-and-months-long dry spell of movies from Hollywood, I’m really looking forward to the next several months.
Anna Karenina:
Great Expectations:
On a different note, James Bond (Oh Mr. Craig…):
And, not a movie, but SOOO excited for Season 3 of Downton Abbey. Can’t wait to see the sparring between Shirley MacLaine and Maggie Smith. Here’s a little teaser:
Four.
I’ve been a long-time follower of Morgan Moore’s blog One More Moore. She’s starting a new venture via kickstarter. If the The World’s Best Apple Pie/Crumble/Crisp recipe that she has just shared is any indication, she’ll be wonderfully successful. Go check it out HERE.
Five.
Earlier today, I pinned this cute little cork baby on Pinterest.
And then Ali made a comment(Thanks Ali!) that it linked to a nasty, nasty website so I immediately deleted it. After a little searching, I found a real link for it and re-pinned it. I suppose every single link should be checked out, but who has the time for all that click-through? It makes me REALLY mad when creeps hi-jack the good things on the internet.
And with that, have a good weekend!
XOXO,
Anna

OMG! I didn’t realize that another Great Expectations was coming out. That should be fun. I may have to re-familiarize myself with Pip before I go see it.
I’ve been waiting impatiently for the 3rd Season of Downton Abbey. So excited about that!

Definitely some good things coming up. Love those stripes. Good ones are hard to find.

The fabrics are great — I like the chevrons too. Love your movie pics! Seeing the embroidered fall leaves makes me want to start stitching again. I’ve been too busy fencing.

Oh, so much to say! I was listening to NPR the other day, and there was a guy who was at a film festival, reporting on the new films he was watching. He talked about Anna Karenina. Now I can’t remember if he loved it or hated it.
I just rented both seasons of Downton Abbey, because my hubby hadn’t seen it yet. I made him watch it. He loved it and is hooked! I couldn’t believe when I saw Shirley MacLain as the other Grandmama (I love that name). Awesome! When does it start, do you know?
I love the stripes! A striped binding s so awesome. And that map fabric!
The little cork guy is adorable. I did not know people were hijacking pins these days. So obnoxious.
Sigh. That’s it. I love this post!

Wait…I just clicked your link for the fabric. You have a store? How did I not know this? Sheesh.

I have bee looking all over for that twine you have. Now I know who I can get it from. I’ve seen other merchants who sell it, but none really ‘tripped my trigger’ enough to order from them. Sorry. I’m rapid commenting on you here.

Just looked though your lovely pictures from Scotland. It seems you had a wonderful break. Love your new fabrics too, especially the map. Must get me some too!

Welcome back! Loved all the gorgeous snaps of Scotland. You luck girl. :) I’m glad you had such a good time! This fabric is so cute. Love the stripes. I have a stripe quilt on my wish list. One day, one day….. I am without my computer once again. Had to borrow one from work. Aargh. Can’t do anything, not even like or pin on Pinterest! Will you be at market? I believe I will be there!

I had no idea they’d made Anna Karenina into a movie! That poster looks gorgeous, I’d see the movie based on that! Oh and Out to Sea… I just love it. I grabbed a fq bundle and at a retreat this weekend will be making it into yet another quilt for my daughter.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend!
xoxo

I could use some good entertainment. If only I could stay awake past 2 rows of crochet when I finally sit down to watch something on TV. Zzzzzz!

Hello Anna, you’ve made some very good points especially #5 which has become a real nuisance but the good still outweighs the bad. About Downton Abbey, I’m considering moving to England so I can see it sooner!

I too can’t wait to see these movies and hooray for Downton Abbey!
Great expectations is one of my favorites, love the creepy crazy bridezilla.

Oh, I love the fabric, especially all the stripes! I’ve heard so many people talking about Downtown Abbey, and I haven’t ever seen it. I need to see if it’s on Netflix and try and play catch up. :)

Oh, Anna, you do keep us up to date. Thank you! I was wondering when Downton would be back. It’s still too far away. Bummer. But you’re right, the movies look good. And Person of Interest will be back soon, too. :)

Spoke to my sister today and they’re two weeks into the new Downton Abbey season! Too bad we have to wait! And Mr. Craig? Yes. Yum!

LOVE the cork baby! I’m a wine drinker (a must while knitting doncha know) and I save all the wine bottle corks in pretty glass jars. I think that I shall start dressing all those corks :-)
