Happy Friday!

Hello Invisible Peeps!  Just popping in for a quick check-in.  It’s been a busy, not-productive-crafty-wise week here.  I had a trip for work, earlier in the week.  I flew home from Washington/Reagan on Wednesday afternoon (you know, the day when the snowquester was supposed to hit).  Check out this picture of the airplane departure board that I posted on Instagram:

Thimbleanna: On Time

How lucky was that?  My flight was one of the very few in the whole airport that wasn’t cancelled.  I felt like I should run out and buy a lottery ticket.  And to add to my luck, look what I found when I got home!  SNOW!!!!

Thimbleanna: Snow

Finally!  We’ve had such a snow-worthless winter this year.  I guess it’s better late than never.  I took this picture early this morning just as the sun was coming up.  It’s my Friday off, but I ran into work for a 5:30 a.m. workout with this awesome trainer that we have in our teeny-tiny fitness center.  Only two of us showed up that early but it was SO worth not sleeping in.  Especially when you consider that I stopped at Starbucks on the way home and undid all the calories I burned.  YayMe!!!

Thimbleanna: YoYo Quilt

So, now, I’m going to work on the yoyos for a little while this morning and watch and old movie or two.  I’ve sewn a few yoyos down this week.  Yoyos: 824, Me: 44.  At this rate, I’ll be done by 2019!  (Oh, and in the interest of full disclosure, you’ll notice a few pins in there.  I’m thinking I might stop using the basting gun to hold the yoyos to the quilt — I’m worried that it’s going to make holes in the quilt back.)

Have a great weekend!
XOXO,
Anna

  1. Wow, your star was really shining with that flight not being cancelled. Snow – I’ll admit I’m pea-green with envy over that wonderful snow. O.O
Those yo-yos look like they knew how gorgeous they were going to be all along. Love the reds.

  2. You were lucky to get out! My dad was flying in to DC and his flight for the evening was cancelled. Kind of silly when you realize that by then it was raining.

  3. Love the new photo of the thimbles.
Snow looks so clean and full of possibilities!xxx

  4. You certainly are lucky that your flight wasn’t cancelled. They are canceling flights out of Denver right and left for your neck of the woods. Big storm coming in tomorrow and we are going to be generous and send it your way!

  5. We have new snow this morning too – YUK! – and another day off from school. These kids have had way too many days off this year – between hurricane Sandy and everything else – they are now going until June 21st, and that’s after having gone through their planned winter break.

  6. Love the new banner! Lucky you to get home. Please keep the snow – I don’t want any more! Still loving the yoyos – gorgeous colours!!

  7. As everyone else has said, love the new banner. We are having snow today and it still hasn’t stopped. 10″ and counting. Not happy with it but what can you do?? Your yo-yos are coming along but a lot of work. I think I will leave my yo-yos in the bag that they are in for now.

  8. i LOVE your new header … and i am happy to hear that you left and are back at home, safe and sound … but i am a little worried about someone using her day off to get up at oh-dark-thirty and go in to the office to work out … what?!?

  9. Love the snow…you were lucky to get through. Quilt lookin goooood

Do you sew all the way around the yo-yos? Really cute!

I too love the thimbles, and the yo yo quilt. Good luck! I am working on Tiny Owl’s hexipuff quilt. Susan 78, only 282 to go! (Totally random numbers. I know the 78 is right :-)

  12. Ha! That first pic made me laugh. Bet you were doing a little Snoopy happy dance!

  13. I love your YoYo quilt SO much. I have a jar full of (well, partially full) Yos – all different scrappy looking fabrics – what a great idea for them. I also stopped using my basting gun years ago – because of the large holes it made. You’ll be done in no time.

I’m very jealous of the snow! We have had the most boring. winter. ever.
You are really inspiring me to make a yo yo quilt. I just love what you are doing and can’t wait to see the finished quilt in 2019 :-) I can wait….

  15. Well darn, Thimbleanna, if I had known you were in town, I’d have treated you to Mother’s Macaroons in Arlington, or to a latte at Kramer Books and Afterwords in DC. Raincheck!

  16. 2019 works for me! i’ll even save you postage by flying out to pick it up. guess i better go shop flights…i wonder if they’re booking 2019 yet? ;p

So amazing to see yours was the only flight on that board not cancelled. My son has been living in Boston for the last 5 years and coming from a place where we barely get snow (none this year)he was very excited to move there. This year he has been a little less enthusiastic about it and I think has even gotten a little tired of it. Not so much fun when there is not time off from work or school and you have to keep dealing with the effects of it.

  18. I love your new header, so cute.
You did better than my hanna, she was supposed to arrive from columbus at 2pm and got here to NJ at 7:30pm.
What a snowy winter we’re all having, but it is pretty.
Have fun with your yoyos, what a fun project.

  19. Ooh! That yo-yo quilt is looking bee-u-tiful! Looks like it’s dusted with some of that sparkling snow!

  20. We are having a snow day today. We’ve definitely gotten more in February – March than we did at Christmas time, but they always say March is the snowiest month in Colorado.
    Beautiful yo-yos!

  21. Glad you got your snow and that you got back home! I would hate for you to miss out on anything. ;) And yeah, you’re probably right about the gun thingy. Oh well, another good idea that wasn’t so much. I have a lot of those. The yo yo quilt is going to be awesome!!!

Well I am not jealous about the snow but the quilt has me drooling with envy. Did a business trip myself this week…all week in Dallas. My flight out of LAX was delayed…and that was the best part of the day!

  23. Yep, that’s definitely snow. Blimey!

Yoyo quilt is looking lovely there, Ms Anna!

  24. I’m glad the snow-quester brought actual snow to you and that you are so willing to be transparent — full disclosure of your yo-yo project. LOL!

    Love you, love your blog.

  25. (one more) Love your banner!

You had a very different reaction to all the snow than I did! LOL It made me grumpy and my arms are still sore from all the shoveling (I refuse to learn to use the snowblower and even though I don’t like snow, i do enjoy shoveling) :).
I really love your new banner, and that quilt! It is going to be a beauty! :)

  27. Hi Anna,
We dodged a bullet here in Michigan. No snow, and today in the fifties. Woohoo!!! Maybe I’ll clean out the car :) Enjoy your white stuff!

  29. Oh the snow looks so pretty. How lucky were you with your flight?! Hope you had a great weekend. Love the new header!!

  30. Safety pins?????

If I used regular pins I think there would be blood spots all over my quilt!

  31. Wow that was lucky! Love your new banner btw with the clover clips…hmm luck, clover…month of March…Perhaps you’re just gearing up for St. Patty’s Day! :o)

  32. Gosh you were lucky with your flight! And look at all that snow! We’ve had some too – a tiny amount but enough to get in the way of my running and it is COLD! I feel like nesting all over again, warm fire, cosy blanket, my knitting, the Lockets all with me and something nice on telly! Pah! I’m at work!! ;o) xxx

  33. that is an AMAZING quilt with I don’t know how many hours of work. WOAW!

  34. That is going to be one BEAUTIFUL quilt when you’re done…an heirloom for sure!

    Debbie

  35. You are so lucky you got out that day. You know my story! LOL. I am so sick of snow and cold and gray here. I am so ready for spring!
