Just Another Random Monday

January 18, 2010 on 10:17 pm | In Chat | 37 Comments

Things are slow here.  Really, really slow.  Sorry to be so boring!  I’ll just list a few random unrelated things, in case you’re interested:

  • Thanks for all the great comments on my sister’s mouse house.  If you liked that, you should check out Madre Karin’s latest post – she doesn’t just have a mouse house in her wall, she can accommodate a whole family!
  • Parsley, Beet and the Bots are in the house.  WooHoo!!!  I love these cool patterns from the Amazing Ms. Ric Rac.  Jodie has wonderful service — she even threw in a few keychains, a birdcage kit and a bunch of mod fabric scraps, ’cause she knows I want to make another nine-patch quilt.  THANK YOU Jodie!!!  Now to locate a few extra pairs of Paddington Bear boots so Parsley and Beet can be stylin’.
  • RicRacGoods

  • Check out Jaquie’s great quilt raffle — not only is she donating the funds raised from her quilts, she’s matching the amount!
  • We went to visit TheFirstChild and SweetiePie on Saturday.  While TheManoftheHouse was otherwise occupied, I snuck (is too a word!) down to see Cami.  A bunch of Kaffe fabrics jumped in my bag because a) I don’t have a Kaffe stash and b) I’m suffering from some sort of delusion that I’ll actually make Kellie’s Joseph’s Coat quilt someday.  Notice how I have two color families going on there — when I DO make the quilt, I can’t decide whether it will be green/blue or pink/orange/yellow.  Decisions, Decisions.
  • Kaffe Fabrics

  • I’m currently enjoying several new-to-me blogs:Sweetopia - as I read somewhere, you’ll get cavities in your eyeballs just looking at this blog
A Feathered Nest - Very, very Pretty! (found via Ms. Barefoot – thank you!)
Just Something I Made – Don’t go here. Really. It’s a huge Rabbit Hole!!!

Whew!  That’s enough for tonight.  I hope you’re off to a good start to your week!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. You’re so funny, Anna! For such a “slow” time as you mentioned, you shared some really fun stuff. Your links and funny comments are delightful. And yes, Just Something I Made is a rabbit hole indeed as there’s always something fascinating to see/do/consider that keeps me clicking away.

  2. I’d like to make the Joseph’s Coat quilt, too, but have yet to start, or even gather together all the supplies, thus ensuring I will be at least six months behind schedule.

  3. Parsley and Beet…too cute. Heather Bailey just posted a new elephant pattern on her blog, too. I tried to make a sock elephant for Emily once. It looks more like a mouse with a really long nose. I think the problem lies in the ears??? Maybe.

Drooling over that new fabric stack. Lucky duck!

    Take care,
    Cassie

  4. Ooooh, look at all that scrumptious fabric. I’m supposed to be making school lunches, and here I am drooling over fabric at 6.30 am. Naughty, just naughty.

  5. It’s nice to be back blogging. If only I were on top of things in life. I did do a tiny bit of sewing today on my apple core quilt…those things take forever.

My daughter sells Fairy doors. I thought about adding on in the wall in my new addition (we are hoping to start building soon.) I can’t decide if I want to put one in the wall or make a fairy house using books and putting it in my book case. The door is currently on the wall in my sewing room. My fairy even got some new suitcases and an umbrella stand for Christmas. I’m looking for a pair of fairy goulashes and a mail box to go next to the door. Maybe I’ll get some for my B-day.

Miss you. Hugs and Kisses, Kim

  11. I’m interested and you are never boring Anna! Love your fabrics and links, I already want to stitch the booties from The Feathered Nest and I don’t have a baby to give them to, they are so sweet, thanks for the inspiration once again !!! The dollhouse is so cute, I’ve been thinking about doll houses a lot lately, they look like so much fun to decorate.

  12. Love Jodie’s patterns too! Not that I’ve made any – maybe when I have grandchildren?
    The fabric — drooool….
The websites, stoooop it.. I already have too many I check up on regularly, and you know I won’t be able to resist seeing more.
Happy January day to you. Snowing here, looks so pretty, all the old snow was getting so dirty and dreary-looking. As I drove to work today, I saw so many more pictures waiting to be taken, but alas, one has to earn a living instead.

  13. I’m with you. Snuck is definitely a word. KF fabrics are like candy for the eyes, but I don’t know if I’m brave enough to try making a quilt from them……

  14. Ooooh, I’ve seen that Joseph’s Coat quilt-along before and it is just beautiful! I hope you will make one someday soon. :)

  18. I love your randomness. :) Thank you for sharing my little house-in-the-wall link. Now I really do feel that I need to get in there and straighten it up, just in case company comes!
I cannot wait to see the quilt you make from that fabric- delicious! My teeth are hurting just scanning Sweetopia and my heart is beating a mile a minute at those baby shoes at A Feathered Nest and I am jealous, jeal;ous that you have Parsley and Beet to make! Must. Get. That. Pattern. Gee whiz, how on earth will I keep up with all the projects I want to accomplish this year?

  20. Hey randomness is fun! I recently bought some Kaffe too. I think they’ll make such a cool summer quilt! Btw, the mouse house at your ‘other’ sister’s house is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. Now my girls want one in their room!! x

  24. Doesn’t look too slow to me. Looks to me like you’ve got some nice projects lined up for yourself. And thanks for the link to Karin’s wonderfully detailed world-in-a-wall. And yes, there are SO many rabbit holes out there to fall into, but at least we come up inspired and with new ideas!

  30. I adore me some Kaffe fabrics. I have exactly two yards of two different ones and I cannot decide what to do with them. They are just too precious.

  31. That mouse house is too cute, and great to see those Ric Rac pattens travelling. She is a very generous soul. Have fun making them.

    Comment by Annie — January 21, 2010 #

  32. Your quiet weekends sound like my quiet weekends – no plans on Wednesday and by the weekend I was out to dinner in Dundee on Friday, shopping on Saturday with a friend, at my parents in Falkirk, out to dinner in Edinburgh, hiking on Sunday in Dunkeld and to dinner at a friend’s on Sunday….not bad for a quiet weekend.

I meant to say – the little silver balls on the cookie Christmas tree were found in a jar in my mum’s cupboard, a jar where the lid was stuck on so tightly it had to be run under water, a jar where the silver balls were 2 different colours, a jar that had been in the cupboard for about 20 years – so not sure if you can still get them here either…..through the rest out after we’d finished making the cookie tree!

  33. I just love Jodies patterns for Parsley and Beet, very tempting for me I must say. You know that once you start cutting into the Kaffes, you’ll have so much fun, you’ll be collecting more. It’s a sickness you know.

    Comment by Janet — January 21, 2010 #

  34. I think you should do one blue and green quilt AND a pink/yellow/orange one … so you’d better get lots and lots and lots of fabric ;-)

  35. When in doubt about which colorway I’d say, use them all.
Thanks for the links-as if I need more blogs to read. Lol.

  36. I have four wee doors here , that have been waiting for me to get organised with them…but now that I have seen the previous post I am having sleepless nights trying to figure out how to actually make a little hole to decorate….

I will go back to work next week , all haggard and muttering about mouse doors and its all your fault…

    Comment by jodie — January 21, 2010 #

  37. Ooh, Anna! That fabric would have followed me home, too. :) Parsley and Beet are so cute!
