Rain, Rain…

Hello…did you all have a good weekend?  Ours was rainy again, but very nice.  It’s like a baby who has it’s days and nights mixed up.  We’re in a weather cycle of beautiful, sunny weekdays and rainy weekends.  But, that’s ok, April Showers bring May Flowers you know.

Anyway, we just hung around the house all weekend.  On Thursday night, I made baseball cupcakes for MyDadLovesMeBestSister.  It was her turn to make a treat for the boys on the baseball team.  My nephew plays on the same high school baseball team that our boys played on.  His teammates call him Little K (our last name), after TheFirstChild.  That cracks me up, since he’s not a Little K — he’s a Little L!

Baseball Cupcakes

On Saturday, just after a rainstorm, we noticed the kitties on high alert in front of one of the windows.  We peeked out the window, and Look!  It’s Flopsy, Mopsy, and Cottontail.

Bunnies

We watched them for awhile, and then I moved to another window to take pictures, and noticed this:

Bunnies

Bat Rastards!  Look what they’ve done to my hostas — there are hardly any leaves left.  And see all those little leaves next to the hostas?  Those are weeds.  Why can’t the bunnies eat the weeds and help me with my weed control issues?  So Rude.

I finished my backpack this weekend.  My candy backpack is worn out and I’ve loved it so much, I had to make another one.  Someone at work the other day looked at my candy backpack and asked, what could I possibly need to carry around, that I need to carry such a big backpack?  I didn’t think he’d understand yoyo and sock knitting needs, so I just smiled at him and shrugged my shoulders.

Backpack

This is my third black and white backpack (well, not for me — the other two were gifts) and the fabric is finally gone! ;-)

So, that was all the excitement for the weekend, but two other little things —

— I’ve been having a lot of trouble commenting on some blogspot blogs.  It happens on blogs that ask what account to use for my comment.  Blogger pops up a new window and makes me log in.  It takes my login and makes me think the comment registered.  It took me a few weeks (after checking on old posts) to realize that my comments were disappearing.  It makes me sad to think of all my comments that were lost.  So, if you’re a blogspot blog and I usually comment and suddenly I haven’t been, you now know why.  I’m thinking I’m not the only one with these problems?

— My April 20% sale for Bolts o’ Bella is over, but since there was so much interest in the Bella swatch cards, I’ve decided for May to send a free swatch card ($19.00 value) to anyone who buys a bolt.  It will be one swatch card per person, so please indicate in the comment box at checkout that you’d like the swatch card.  They’re really cool — I promise you’ll love them!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Those cupcakes are tooo cute. You always make food look so pretty. You really do.
I can’t believe the bunnies ate your hostas. I’d be furious. But they are very cute you know.
Love love love that backpack!!!!! I wanna be you when I grow up.

  2. darling cupcakes.
i bet ‘little k’ thinks you’re the best auntie ever.
thanks for contributing to the nutritional needs of those little cottontails.
i only say that because i have no idea what a ‘hosta’ is.
    LOVE YOUR BACKPACK!!!
(not because it matches mine or anything, just because i love it. you’re so amazing!)
    :applauds you fervently

  3. I think the cupcakes are the bomb, sweets that look like baseballs, how cute. I’m so impressed with the backpack, it’s wow and it looks really difficult. We have one possum that eats everything, that’s how I lost my rhubarb. I don’t know how you’re going to get rid of those rabbits now they know where the fine dining is.

  4. Great bag Anna- I love the black and white fabric- very pretty and elegant looking.
You are such a nice auntie to make cupcakes- I am sure they were a hit..VBG
    Have a great week.
    Hugs,
    Anna

  5. Just love those backpacks – and everyone knows you can never have a big enough bag! What is it about hostas that any living thing (slugs, snails, rabbits) feels compelled to eat them? Why can’t we eat them, they’re obviously delicious?

  6. Professional looking cupcakes and professional looking backpacks!

I sometimes have a similar problem logging in to Blogger blogs — the first time I login it says “Cannot process” so I try again and then it works….I think. Perhaps I should double check!

  7. You totally amaze me with all the treats that you make! I can virtually smell those cupcakes. Yes, I know what you mean about the bunnies being rude, but you can’t stay mad at them for too long. After all they are too cute! And the best part is the hostas will continue to grow. Happens here too. I hope you aren’t having problems on my blog. I don’t think so, I have been receiving your comments. But what a bummer!

  8. I think once you are logged in THEN you must go back and leave the comment again. I always copy my comment to the clipboard before I log in, otherwise I have to type the damn thing twice.

  9. That is a great looking backpack. I love the fabrics. The rabbits are very cute and just be thankful they aren’t skunks wandering through your yard!

  10. Vera Bradley here YOU come….She better watch out. If you ever were to sell those you could give her some steep competition. Beautiful bag.
Your poor hostas…They are cute, but they sure can be pesty little critters.

  11. what a great backpack! I love black and white. Great job it beautiful.
The bunny photo is adorable and the cupcakes look delish!

  12. Love the cupcakes & backpack. My “rabbit” issues disappeared last year when my ferocious 12lb maltese/mix dog got one. That scared the rest off and thankfully my hostas & strawberries are thriving! If only the bunnies knew what your kitties were capable of they’d run in terror. :)

  13. I feel your pain. There are so many little animals that are so cute…..until you notice that they are destroying something you’d rather have than them. Think about a garden with beautiful red tomatoes on every plant. Then noticing that each tomato has one very big bite taken out of it. Hence my warfare with the squirrels.

  14. Beautiful, but cold week-end here, and it’s still beautiful weather! Sadly nothing much has been done…
Yummy cupcakes! I could have one of those! Rude rabbits…you better put up a sign to tell them what to eat, and what not to eat…if that would be any help! LOL
    Love your new back pack!

  15. Those sneaky bunnies!! Your cupcakes too way too yummy this morning. I must be hungry. And your backpack… SWOON! I want to make one for myself! I need to hunt down the pattern. Your candy one is my fave but the b/w one is way cute too.

A Moda swatch card. That has been on my mind all weekend. Thanks for the reminder. I need to hunt one down.

  16. I’m needing to make a backpack as I’m having problems with my back and it seems my shoulder bag days are numbered …

What a pain about the comments. I’ve noticed blogger have fiddled with their comment stuff AGAIN and I have to say if I am continually being asked to login or enter details I tend not to bother, which is a shame.

  17. you were very busy this weekend…the cuppies are adorable…what flavor?
& the backpack is fab…i love black & white!

i went to our local nursery on saturday as the rabbits are getting the best of my hostas!!

went to a bridal shower on sunday & it was just lovely w/great food prepared by friends that really can cook!

  18. Oh noooooooooooo! Hosta munching butt heads!

I’ve wondered on the weed thing, too. We need to start cross breeding hostas and vegetable plants and roses with weeds so they become less delicious.

  19. Love that back pack…very elegant! If you get a gmail account and just make sure you’re signed into it before you comment you won’t have any trouble…that’s how I solved that problem…now I just have to make sure I’m not commenting in my kiddos accounts, I’ve had that happen before!

  20. Anna, what a darling backpack. Oh, the hours you must have put into it. You could sell them in your shop, you know. People would pay, they really would. Anywhoo, I have been having that issue with blogger as well and the kicker is…I am already logged in at the time??? Weird. Are you having that problem on my blog??? Just curious. My husband laughed at your nickname for the bunnies. I am still laughing. But, the bunnies are quite darling. I wish we’d have some again. The neighbor had a dog, who I am convinced ran them all off. He moved away. Now the neighbor has a goat. (Could I make this up?) The goat gets out of the pen several times a day…are bunnies scared of goats? Because they haven’t come back despite the dog being gone. Yup, it is better than reality tv around here.

  21. Hello Anna :)
I have also had problems with those blogspot comments. I’m going to read through the comments in the morning and see if anyone has suggestions about that. In the meantime, I am so sad about your hostas. I guess that is one good thing about my neighborhood, no vegetation-eating varmints. Although the birds do steal my worms!!
    G’night!
    Karen

  22. Hi Anna, I have a blogspot blog, but I seem to get your welcome comments.
Love the pic of the bunnies. They are so cute, but not really welcome in NZ or Oz. They were introduced, & became pests who laid waste to thousands of acres of land.
Your backpack is just gorgeous!! It is no one elses business what we girls keep in our ‘bags’!!

  23. Anna – love your backpack – stylish and practical – glad to see you have made yourself one before the fabric ran out!

Your comments have been coming though OK over at my place. Hope you sort out your commenting issues – it can be very annoying when you lose your comments.

  24. I seriously love the back pack! I really admire your sewing skills. Those must be difficult to make. Bunnies – love em! Did you see the bunny scene in the John Travolta movie, Phenomenon? Cute.

  25. Yeah, people have complained about that blog issue lately. I don’t know what changed. Anyway so much to comment on with this post. I love the cupcakes. You always make the most beautiful things no matter where it is in your home. That backpack is fabulous. I might be changed from purse to backpack if I had something like that! My tender tulips get eaten like the bunnies ate but I think it is deer. I have never seen wild bunnies where I live. They are so cute.

  26. Where did my comment go? oh, no, like I can remember what I just wrote. Springtime in the midwest…love it…miss it. And I love the backpack!!

  27. Cool backpack, Anna. Awwww, how can you be mad at those sweet little bunnies? :o)

I’ve been having trouble with Blogger, too. If I’m not signed in to my blog, I can’t seem to leave a comment on anyone else’s blog. What a buggy program.

  28. Bakerella better watch out..those cupcakes are adorable!

Incidentally the weather is all back to front here too..the wind normally blows SW to NE but at the moment it is going NE to SW and bring the arctic freezing cold with it!..I’m so desperate to be warm!

The rabbits are cute..though it is a shame they munched away at your hostas :o(

  29. I’ll trade my secret for keeping bunnies off of plants if you make me a backpack…ha ha, just kidding. Cayenne pepper – I found it 2 summers ago and it really works – you just have to reapply after rains. They don’t like it at all! Pretty soon you will know what plants they like and those will be the only ones you have to apply the c pepper to. I buy big cheap generic bottles.
They’ve never gone after my hostas though, they eat my asters and a few others. Make sure you wash your hands AND don’t rub your eyes or anything with the cayenne pepper. It stings.
Now I’m hungry for a cupcake too. yUmmmmmM. I’ll have to look for the wonderful backpack pattern, although the back is not good these days so it will have to wait for long time. Love the black and white sweetie, awesome choice. If anyone out there in blogland makes them I would pay for one.

  30. Ah, it’s the same here with all the rain. But the garden loves it indeed!

Too bad that the hostas were eaten. I’d happily send you some, I have lots and lots of them, all kinds of colours and shapes, but I’m afraid there is a big chance they wouldn’t arrive well on your doorstep. Well, if you ever come to Europe, you really should visit and I’d give you some!

Your cupcakes look wonderful. Do you believe I never made cupcakes? Somehow they aren’t that common around here, although I think we’re going to see them more and more. I do plan on making some of them one day, because they look so delicious (and I have a huge sweet tooth :-))

I’m off to bed, it’s midnight here already. Give those little bunnies a hug before you shoo them away from your hostas! ;-)

  31. Your cuppycakes always look so YUM!

Now about those Bat Rastards…..getcha some pepper spray. I don’t mean the kind in ladies’ purses, but the kind you spray on plants. I have a recipe on my blog, but I think you can buy it too. Spray on the plants and let Flopsy, Mopsy, and Peter have a bite! Burnt mouth!!! (I hope)

Are the hollyhocks holding on still? OH, I also think you need a gun, like Elmer Fudd. Those “wascally wabbits!”

Love, love, love the B&W backpack. You are SO GOOD!

    Jody

  32. Love those cupcakes! I remember those days of being snack mom. I made baseball cupcakes one time too, only I wasn’t as smart as you, and I ended up piping stitches right onto the cupcakes. Me and my big ideas! LOL! The kids loved them though.

I can’t grow hostas because of the snails. They take them completely away. It makes me so mad.

Love the backback Anna, and that sweet puppy in the post down below, is adorable!

  33. Your cupcakes and backpack look great Anna. I’ve never had a problem with rabbits eating my hosta, only deer ;( The rabbits usually go for the vegetable garden, little rastards… Your swatch card looks very enticing……… and we can get any color we want off the card from you?

  34. Oh, no! Bad little rabbits! I agree with you- why can they not munch on the things we pull out of the ground? It’s all a part of their evil plan. They may look cute, but……….
Love the black and white backpack! That is super cute. And those cupcakes look positively divine. Why can’t we be neighbors? lol

  35. bat rastards is right!
..i usually say it the other way..rat…..
poor hostas! my mom has deer, rabbits and squirrels. she has to make cages to go around her plants.

    love the bag!! wayyyyy cute!
    any cupcakes left?
    …like i need one….pinch.pinch.

    xoxo
    becky

  36. We used to have a problem with bunnies until two crazy beagles with hunting in their blood came to live with us LOL! THANKFULLY, they have never caught one but they sure are loud enough to scare them away.

    Jennifer :)

  37. Those naughty bunnies! I bet the squirrels told them to do it. I have a Day Lily that looks just like your Hosta…DEER!!! I’m crazy about wild things (I even take pictures of their poo…lol!), but do they have to graze in my flower bed? How rude!

    Love the backpack, Anna~
    Cassie

  38. totally lol Anna! bat rastards! I did gasp out loud when I saw the photo of your hostas. and if you look closely at the photo of the one closest to you, it looks like he’s cleaning his face from a nice little snack!

  39. I love the backpack! And, as you know, I have the same problem with filling it with so much, in case you need something later. :) The photo of the three bunnies is adorable! But, I have the same issue with deer. I love to see them and take their photos, but last year they ate each and every one of my zucchini from my vegetable garden. I didn’t get a single one! But they never did eat the weeds… :)
