La.a.a.zy

Well, talk about some lazy blogging.  I don’t have a clue where the summer is going.  And I’m thinking that maybe like Jennifer, I’m suffering from the blahs.  The German in-laws have gone home and so have TheFirstChild and SweetiePie, who left on Friday morning.  TheManoftheHouse was supposed to be gone until Saturday night and I think I hurt his feelings Friday night when I wasn’t jumping up and down for joy to see that he’d come home a day early.  It wasn’t that I didn’t want to see him, but darn!  I was really looking forward to a nice long bath while reading my new American Patchwork and Quilting and maybe even being able to put my hands on the tv remote control.  {Siiiiggghhhh}.

Bike Ride

Anyway, when everyone was still here, we all decided to ride bikes downtown one night and go to a baseball game.  There were 11 of us on 9 bikes (one tandem and my youngest niece riding on a fender) and I think we created a bit of a spectacle chaining all those bikes together out in front of the stadium.  We had a great time and the highlight for me had to be when I crashed into TheFirstChild and fell off of my bike!  Too bad we don’t have a picture of me splayed out there on the street LOL.

Bike Ride

It was also really fun for me to watch TheFirstChild explaining baseball to the German relatives.  Baseball isn’t a European sport and there are a lot of little intricacies in the game that we who watch it all the time don’t even think about.  TheFirstChild is rabid about baseball, so he was the perfect tutor and I could tell he loved sharing his passion.

Bike Ride

During the seventh inning stretch, CrazyBIL, his brother, my nephew and TheFirstChild all tried their luck in the batting cages.  CrazyBIL’s brother did an amazing job for having never played baseball!  The night whizzed by and at the end we were treated to fireworks, which was a fun surprise.

So, now we’re all back to normal and I’m having a little trouble being motivated.  As I mentioned in my last post, I’d run out of the bee fabric that I’m using to complete my latest UFO.   I owe the fabulous Miss Jean (oooh, go check our her pretty new baby) a BIG thank you for finding a place where I could order it.  I’d already ordered twice, only to have my orders later canceled.  Now I have no excuse not to get back to work!

Bee Fabric

Oh, and one last thing.  I always think it’s funny when someone rants on their blog.  Abby ragged on vinyl and fondant this week and totally cracked me up.  Check her out for a good laugh!

XOXO,
Anna

Oh!  And Thanks for all the twine orders — I hope you all love that stuff as much as I do!

  1. I think lazy is the word for me right now too Anna! It seems that summer has flown by. It’s been full of very high highs and some lows, but overall good. Blogging has definitely taken a backseat for me lately :) glad you had a great time with all your family!

  2. I think my mom gets blue when we clear out of her house. I always think she will feel relieved that the circus is pulling out and then later, she surprises me with a phone call complaining the house is too quiet. Looks like you had a good time with your company. :)

  3. What a great thing to do with your family and visiting relatives. I bet they loved it. I know exactly what you mean about the summer disappearing so quickly. I’ve had the blogging blahs too. I feel so boring at times.

  4. Sounds like you are having the perfect summer Anna!! It is always wonderful to be able to hang out with family and friends, and have a slower pace of life. Enjoy!

  5. What a fun family night you all had – but I would be sore for a month if I fell off that bike. Hope you are ok.

  6. You crack me up! Poor MannoftheHouse!!! But I understand perfectly what you mean. Especially after you’ve had all these visitors. Some “me” time is essential.

  7. Your idea of lazy is way different than the rest of the world’s, ha, ha. You are definitely NOT lazy. Sounds like you had a great time w/ the German relatives.

  8. I need someone to explain baseball to me – sometimes when reading American novels there are weird sentences with things like ‘it was the bottom of the ninth and the bases were loaded’ (or something like that). I too would be most upset if something prevented me lounging in the bath (every Wednesday morning with a mug of hot chocolate and a good book!) I’ve been so bisy with curtains and cushions, my patchwork has been neglected – I’m having withdrawal symptons! I’m not surprised you have had so many orders for the twine – I have managed to track down a UK supplier. Have a good week, love Anne x

  9. Looks and sounds like you had a great time with your family Anna, and I agree ~ this summer has flown by. Even though I’m not ready for it to end I am ready for some cooler weather!!

  10. firstchild is rabid about baseball?
i was trying to think what i was *rabid* about.
    See’s Candy.
    and perhaps Apple Strudel.
thanks for pointing us over to abby. that was great fun.
have a wonderful week anna anna banana nana.

  11. When your family gets together you do such fun activities. The bike ride to the baseball game and the fireworks sound like a blast.

  12. What fun! We went out on a similar family expedition to the seaside – 6 adults and 1 child and 2 toddlers – that took some organising! I am glad you are having a fun summer.

  13. I hear you about being busy, I don’t even know where my summer went. I can’t wait to get our bikes up here…I’ll get a good workout in these hills.

  14. You know there is sooooo much celebrating in the summer, it is exhausting. I know my Sept will be crazy. I will be looking forward to the fall and things slowing down xoxo Clarice

  15. I’m afraid I don’t understand baseball either – probably comes with being English I’m afraid .. as for bikes , I’d probably fall off too

  16. Well hello there L.A.Z.Y. Anna!…lol
It really doesn’t sound like you have been lazy to me! You have been a busy girl.
    Family…baseball…fireworks?
What could be better? Except maybe seeing a picture of you when you fell off your bike…lol!
    That is too funny…love it.
    xx

  17. You seem to have been having a good time! As you say baseball isn’t a European game but we English have usually played a game called rounders at school (or in the parents v pupils game at the end of summer term!) which is similar though less complicated so we have a basic idea at any rate. I watch major league baseball occasionally on ESPN and enjoy it.

  18. Yay for bike riding! We’ve been trying to fit that in this summer. Not the falling off though – ouch!!! I bet it was fun watching a novice try to figure out a baseball game – was that the Wizards? Oh wait, I think they changed their name?? I totally know what you mean about the summer flying by….it just seems to get worse every year.
