Well Hello There! Just popping in to check on your Christmas. I hope it was wonderful — ours was fabulous. MyDadLovesMeBestSister and CrazyBIL hosted this year and we had a ton of fun. Remember this little bundle who was the star of the show last year?
Well, he still managed to be the center of attention for much of this year. He’s a big baby and he was in the middle of everything. He kept us entertained during the down times.
Which were almost never. We ate, opened presents, ate, opened more presents, ate even more and played some really fun games. We downloaded a free one-hour trial version of family feud and projected it onto the wall. It was SO much fun — I’m definitely planning on buying it for next year. Our family splits up perfectly — MyDadLovesMeBestSister has 2 girls and a boy, and with SweetiePie, we have 2 boys and a girl. Perfect family teams of six each when we added MeMum and BigDaddy to the teams. I’m proud to say that the Thimbleanna family whomped up on the CrazyBIL family. As it should be.
After the one-hour trial (which was really longer than an hour) was up, we played Catch Phrase. For those of you who don’t know Catch Phrase, you have this little disk that you pass around a circle of people. As each person gets the disk, a word or phrase appears on the little disk, and it’s that person’s job to get their team members to guess the word by giving hints, but without actually saying the word or phrase. This time we played girls against boys — again, we have a perfect split of 6 on each team. We laughed hysterically at a lot of the word descriptions. The most memorable was when CuteNephew and TheFirstChild had us on the floor because CuteNephew couldn’t get his team to guess “Break the Ice” by describing a hammer and frozen lake. So he moved on to the dating version of the phrase and it went downhill from there. The guys were just funny in general — time always seemed to run out on TheSecondChild, no matter where he sat — and BigDaddy would get frustrated that his team wasn’t getting the word, so with no warning, he’d just calmly blurt out the word and pass the disk on. Anyway, the girls won! Again — as it should be LOL!
So, it’s all over for another year. I didn’t touch a computer for four days and it was heavenly, although, I’m having withdrawal symptoms now. Time to do some reading. Oh, and the Gingerbread Houses were lots of fun too and as soon as I quit being lazy, I’ll get to those pictures. But first there will be the little matter of a blogiversary. I’m off to figure it out!
XOXO,
Anna
Games at your family gatherings sound like a riot! Can’t wait to see the gingerbread house photos.
It would totally get cut throat at our house if we played the Feud. Love it!
nice family fun…how lovely!
the pup is a beauty…& seems so cuddly.
happy new year sweet anna!
What a perfect christmas, my family always enjoyed a new game or two as well. I miss that being away from them.
Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. Can’t wat to see pictures. xo
Can I come celebrate Christmas with you guys next year? Projecting Family Feud on the wall sounds WAY FUN!
jody
P.S.
How DID you project the game onto the wall?
Jody
Sounds like a wonderful time was had by all of you!
Those family gatherings and playing games remind me of the New Years Eve’s we had at my grandparents house during my childhood!
You must be exhausted!! I switched off the laptop over Christmas – except for briefly on Christmas Day, when I emailed my son and his girlfriend photos of the quilts I made for them, as we were unable to visit because of the weather!!
Sounds like a great Christmas!
I love those mad games. Having not had too big a break from my computer over Christmas, I’m itching for everyone to come back to blogland – it’s too quiet.
Your Christmas sounds wonderful! Next year, I want to get the Wii version of Jeopardy because that is my favorite game show and it would be fun to play as a family.
Can you believe that we STILL have several inches of snow on the ground at our house here in Huntsville? It’s never been like that since we’ve lived here.
Sounds like a perfect family Christmas :-)
Our family loves catch phrase! It used to be “an adult game” while the kids played board games, but we recently introduced it to our girls and we’ve played it as a family a few times over the holidays! :) Happy New Year! :)
Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas, Anna! Can’t wait to see the gingerbread houses!
What a sweet dog! He is adorable! :)
We played Catch Phrase at our family Christmas too. It was the first time we had played it and we had lots of laughs. And the same thing that happened to your son happened to my nephew, poor kid hardly got a turn, cause it buzzed on him almost every time. lol
Looking forward to seeing the gingerbread houses. :)
That beautiful dog is so cuddly – and looks soft as a teddy bear. My yorkie Maddie went to the vet on Cmas Day because she ate part of a rubber ball that she got as a gift and hurled for 35 min. So after an x-ray, shot for nausea, and being hydrated (she looked like a camel with a hump because they put it just under the skin to absorb into system) plus $158 (Merry Christmas to the Checkbook) she came home a little worn out. But she is fine and the balls have been thrown out.
NOW about this blog Anniversary…will there be games and prizes…pick me, pick me. I can’t wait, please Ms Anna, please hurry! I’ll try to be patient. And the gingerbread house competition – all these temptations, what are we to do?
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! I’ve been woefully behind on my blogs and I’m trying to get caught up. Glad you had such a nice Christmas with your family – the games sound like so much fun. I think I need to plan something like that for next year – the last couple Christmases, when bil’s family comes to visit, the teens are always on their iphones and my teens sit and watch them be on their iphones – not much interaction there. We need a family feud!!
Oh thank goodness your blog will let me comment this time. Although, it’s not like my comments are important. I just like you to know I love reading your blog :)
So here’s my real comment. I LOVE Family Feud, that sounds like a great time with it up on the wall, and I’m glad you won. As it should be ;)
Sounds like a great holiday for you. Family and good times…that’s the best. I had cookies for breakfast too. So fun!
Oh my word … the puppy is SOOOOO cute!!!! I can’t believe he’s already one year old. Is he a Golden Doodle or Labradoodle? I’m guessing a golden.
Sounds like a wonderful Christmas! I used to love Family Feud in the early days when it was on tv with Richard … what was his name, the host? He used to kiss all the women. How fun to play that with your family. I’m jealous you spent four days off the computer. I’m off this week and each day I tell myself I’m not going to go online, but in the end I can’t resist. Happy new year to you, Anna!
Now I’m not a doggy person … but that one is the cutest.
Glad your Christmas went smoothly – I’m still crushed that I never got to make my Christmas morning muffins, but as my youngest said – rename them New Year’s morning muffins and make them New Years Day.
Looking forward to the Gingerbread House post!
X
Sounds like a good time was had by all! Happy New Year and on to the next thing!
Thanks for the anniversary card, Anna – Happy Anniversary to you too – and the congratulations! Have a wonderful start to 2011 (and then a wonderful continuation…)
I can’t believe the Holiday is almost over…poo. The Family Feud sounds like so much fun, I’ll have to look it up. It’s always fun to have something to play with the family after all that eating and gifting!! Happy New Year and blog anniversary too.
Sounds like a perfectly wonderful Christmas, Anna. The “puppy” is quite the lapful! He’s beautiful.
I hope that you have a safe and happy New Year!
I enjoy reading your blogs to hear what fun things you have been up to. It makes me happy just like a warm cup of vanilla spice coffee and puts a smile on my face like my favorite quilt shop to touch all the beautiful fabric. : )
Sounds like so much fun. I too enjoyed cookies for breakfast, and I’m beginning to crave salads, so I know that the holidays are just about over.
Happy New Year Anna.
Sounds like good times.
I love catch phrase. We haven’t played it for a while.
Your family is more fun than mine.
You must all move to the coast.
Pronto.
Your family sounds like such fun, Anna. I’m so glad you had a wonderful time. Here’s hoping you and your loved ones enjoy a brilliant 2011. :) x
