Well, how was your weekend? It was nice and quiet here in ThimbleannaLand. On Saturday, I spent the afternoon at MeMum’s baking cookies and on Sunday I decided to batten down the hatches and stay home. It was a lovely afternoon of knitting, movie watching, and enjoying the glorious white view out of the windows. (Below is a view of TheUglyTree from the laundry room.) Over in KarolineKnitsLand, she calls it a “mini-nervous breakdown”. I think it’s only supposed to be effective if you’re playing hookey from work, but I’m here to tell you, it’s fabulous for a day of ditching your normal routines and responsibilities.
So, how ’bout a little bit of random for a Happy Monday?
- Several weeks ago, Ms. SilverPebble posted that she’d added some beautiful lockets to her etsy shop. I followed her link, and before I knew it my fat fingers clicked “buy”. I’ve received this gorgeous locket and I LOVE it. Love Love it! Sweet Emma even included a pretty (big!) piece of fabric and some chocolates — some of which may or may not have been consumed before I even got out of the car after the post office run. I forgot to take a picture of the inside of the locket, and Emma’s pictures are so much better than mine anyway — you can see them HERE. Thank you SO much for your marvelous service Emma — I couldn’t be happier with my purchase!
- Ms. Pleasant Home has a fantastic post on how you blogspot bloggers can make it much easier for your readers to comment. We all love comments, don’t we? Jodi summarizes the secrets so that your blog can be MUCH more reader friendly. I always thought most of the commenting problems were related to different computers, but it turns out that there are settings that you can utilize so that your blog doesn’t make a commenter jump through hoops endure 3 or 4 screens just to leave a comment. If you’re a blogspot blogger I hope you’ll take a few quick minutes to go see what Jodi has to say — it might mean more comments for YOU!
- Shall we play guess which camera lens is real and which is fake? The naughty little temptress Julia posted a picture of her cute Nikon coffee mug on Pinterest a few weeks ago, and I couldn’t resist. I had an amazon gift card burning a hole in my pocket, so I splurged. They’re amazingly life-like. I might have to put Julia on probation– I bought a piece of fabric several weeks ago after seeing it on her blog too THANKS Julia!. Amazon has several different camera brand mugs for your viewing pleasure.
- Some yummy yarn arrived in my mailbox today. The lovely and invisible NoBlogMsB. and I arranged a swap. I’m thinking I got the better end of the deal!
- And last, but by no means least, I love TED. If you have 20 minutes to spare, here’s a video on new breast cancer detection advancements that I think all women should watch. Big things (among them more comfortable mammograms – woohoo!) look to be right around the corner.
Have a Happy Week!
XOXO,
Anna
Oh, and P.S. I’ve had a fantastic offer via e-mail to buy this scintillating blog for millions. I always knew this incessant yacking would pay off someday!!! However, because of my love and devotion for YOU, dear reader, I’ve decided to turn it down. Some things in life are much more important than money!
Love Random…
Lots of fun randomness! That yarn is so bright and pretty and I appreicate the Blogger tips. I just changed my settings!
i am glad you added the info for blogger comments! i can’t believe how many steps it takes to comment on certain blogs. lazy me, i have been known to give up once in a while.
love those coffee mug lens’. too fun!
So glad you decided we are worth way more than millions! And thanks for the cup link, my son is a photographer and its a perfect little birthday gift!
What a great random post. I felt like I was there baking cookies and online shopping with you. My daughter would enjoy one of those camera lens mugs – in a Canon.
Yes, yes, my dear. I will take the word verification off my comments, like Jodi says I should. I’ll do it just for you because I want you to keep visiting :) but if I get spammed, I’m forwarding it all to your inbox (evil laugh).
Love the thought of being tucked in against the elements and I think your ‘ugly’ tree looks quite beautiful. I’ve just popped across to see your friend Caroline and will be checking out Ms Pleasant home soon. I have to admit there are some blogs I read but never leave comments because it’s such a faff. I really don’t like all this signing in malarcky beforehand. Gabe is much better now and is going back to school today – yeah x
I agree with you about the tedium of commenting on some blogs – yours is very commenter-friendly! Love all your goodies – but you can keep the white chocolate all to yourself – I can’t abide the stuff!! Hooray for more comfortable mammograms. Malcolm thought I was exaggerating, until I told him to imagine having his tackle clamped between two plates!!
You lucky thing… I had my eye on those pretty lockets but I wasn’t quick enough!
Aha! I’m so glad it got there safely – I am always a little worried about my jewels getting lost in the sea!
Now, that looks like top tippage for comment settings – I’m of there now to optimise things.
What is ugly about your tree by the way? It looks like the little Christmas tree that cried all summer. Oh! Poor little thing. I’d give it some fertiliser I would.
Love all your random, Anna….and someone wants to buy your blog??
Great lockets, very pretty. Chocolate wouldn’t survive a ride home with me either :-D
What are you going to knit with all that beautiful yarn?
Oh how I hope people on Blogger will read that article. Sometimes you think you’ve gone through enough hoops already and have left a comment only to have word verification pop up 15 seconds later, etc.
That yarn is so rich and saturated with color. What are you going to make with it?
No time to watch the video right now, but I’ll be back. I totally love the mugs!
I luurrve the colour of that yarn!
I too have now ditched word verification on my blog. Best way to get comments? – great content of course!
:-)
Thanks for turning them down! We love you!!!!
LOVE that yarn!
Connie who now has a different blog
that is a super cool mug! I wish I knew someone who was an avid photographer would be appreciate it because I would sooo buy it!
Wow, look at that snow. It is sunny here, very weird weather. But it is our Friday, yahooo. Camera mug, Auberne` would love that xoxoxo Clarice
Fun random post Anna! I love the locket and the camera lens coffee mug. And Your tree isn’t ugly, it’s just that awful white stuff that’s covering up all it’s beauty. lol
not only were the random links great but, the TED video was very informative. deborah rhodes has amazing credentials & is involved in great advances…very worthy of everyone’s time.
thank you.
What a gorgeous Locket! I have one of Emma’s lockets too – bought for me by the gorgeous students at my old job. Lucy x
I have the Canon version of that mug, which is funny as I have a Pentax camera!
I would hold out for billions…you’re worth it!
Well, you are worth a million. :)
Just watched the TED video; thanks for sharing it. I had no idea about this new technology. It looks promising and I hope that politics and money isn’t getting in the way of getting better early detection of this dreaded disease. Logically, it’s a no-brainer, right?
Ha, ha! I rated a reference in your post! Thanks! I thought I noticed that I was getting a few more visits then usual. I’ll bet you’re the reason. Your afternoon sounds perfectly wonderful BTW.
Mssilverpebble knows just how to attract customers! One of the reasons that I’m such a Loopy Ewe fan is that they always include a couple of cute, little gifts with your order.
Good post esp. about comments. Hopefully these changes will help. I did remove word verification weeks ago because I felt the pain at when I tried to comment.
Great post…and fabulous links. I did try Jodi’s suggestion for all of 14 hours when I was hit with 2 bogus comments and 2 spam comments…so I’m back to word verification :o(
Just plain wonderful “random”!!!! So much good info here and thank . Off to check things out your links and probably purchase a locket!
Lots of interesting tidbits to be discovered in this post. I’ve been contemplating buying the Nikon mugs, one for my honey and one for me. Now you’ve convinced me to get on with making the purchase.
The UglyTree looks very lovely underneath that cover of snow! Sounds like you had a very nice Monday. Thanks for the links. I’m off to look at lockets!
Jody
I always enjoy a visit here! So glad the Millions did not tempt you!
Wow!! I enjoyed looking at the previous year’s pics too! Do you have any idea what the budget is?
Very, very creative…very, very expensive! ;0
anna, i’ve just seen that my oh-so-cleverly written comment never made it through…hmmm…just wanted to say: muahahaha….heeeheee {evil laugh & giggle from the naughty little temptress :)}
Love catching up over here!! And, your new banner is so clever and fun!
:)
