A Finish and A Start

Whew! That pesto exercise was sure fun! Thanks for all of your great comments — you either love pesto or you don’t, huh? Several of you even left some great sounding recipes, so be sure and go read the pesto post comments if you’re a pesto lover.

Yipee! It’s the weekend. It will be very low-key here in Thimbleannaland. There are so many things that need to be done around here, so I’m just going to stick my head in the sand and do as little as possible. Maybe some reading, knitting and sewing. But very little cleaning (which is the most pressing need!) and cooking. Although, I do hope to finally try the No-Knead Bread recipe that everyone has been raving about. It looks yummy.

I did manage to finish my first-ever two socks on one circ socks this week. I thought they’d NEVER be done, so I’m happy that they’re finally finished.

Green Socks

I didn’t enjoy knitting on US size 0 needles one tiny little bit. I’m hoping never to have that experience again LOL. These were made from some Knitpicks yarn given to me by a dear friend. (Thanks Sweetie!) This yarn made for a nice, comfortable weight sock and it didn’t tangle or anything, but it’s not a real smooth, plush yarn with which to knit.

Bluegreen Socks

While I didn’t love knitting on size 0s, I did love knitting two socks on one circ. So when I was at Cami’s last week I bought a US size 1 needle. She was out of size 2s, which is what I wanted, but as it turns out, size 1s are perfect. I started these Mockery socks with yarn I bought at Cami’s last fall. I should probably call these my Cami Socks, especially since Cami is where I learned about mockery socks in the first place.

Bluegreen Socks

I’m having a great time knitting these. The yarn is heavenly and they seem to be going much faster on size 1 needles. I certainly wouldn’t have thought moving up only one size would make that much difference, but my progress seems to be much faster.

Bluegreen Socks

I thought I’d see how socks in progress look as earrings for Pooh Bear, but I see now that they should be modeled as ear muffs. Pooh would be so happy in winter and maybe they would keep his ears from cracking like his face has. Poor Pooh … I know how you feel. It comes with age.

Happy Weekend Everyone, cracked face or not!

XOXO,
Anna

  1. Well, I finally went and downloaded the Mockery pattern. It looks really neat. I’ve got a skein of lovely hand-dyed sock yarn from Amy King that I think will be perfect. And I love your little Pooh Bear. He’s beautiful!

  2. Oh Anna you are determined to get me to try knitting aren’t you? Why else would you tempt me so? LOL! your socks look great!

  3. How do you knit 2 socks at once on a circular needle? I’ve never heard of this but it sounds wonderful. I’m always afraid I’ll have 2 socks of different sizes. The yarn you’re using is very pretty.

  4. I found my first pair on two circulars took an age to complete but when you’ve finished, you’ve finished! Love the colour of the pooh bear ear muffs too!

  5. What a beautiful job! One of these days I’m going to have to try two socks on one needle, but in the mean time – I’m plodding along with my dpns. The socks look great!

  6. You did a great job on those socks, Anna! I love the color of the ones you’re working on now, and they do look lovely on Pooh. I know how he feels too – I’ve got that cracked face thing going on meself! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  7. Oh, those Mockery socks are gorgeous! And yay, you for a finished pair… they took *forever* because they are nearly ‘solid’… self-striping yarns knit up MUCH faster, I promise. I am doing the decreases on the ‘Clap’ and looking forward to having two projects come off needles by Wednesday…woo-hoo! C

  8. I love both the finished and the in-progress. You are dedicated, I say. I am still thinking of what I want to make my goofy bags from. I am gearing up. Just you wait.

  9. Nice socks! Gorgeous blue yarn….Wanting to make some pretty lacy socks for MIL. Recommend a pattern? Must be two at the same time as I don’t think I could stand having to start over from the beginning!

  10. knitting schmitting. gorgeous socks anna. my toes are jealous!! just got back from notcamping. had a blast. i’ll post a few pics tomorrow. hope your weekend is wonderful. your lawn gnome is an albino. shame.

  11. I really need to get this two socks on one circ lark mastered. I’ve seen videos on U tube and it looks great but I still haven’t quite found the motivation to try.

  12. oh shoot, i almost forgot. i injured my foot years ago and live in clogs. when you’re making my socks, please use those “0” needles, because i need them to be thin. also, i would like a black pair.(i wear a lot of black because i’m in fat and somehow i’m thinkin’ it makes me look thinner) and put some little bees near the top, so no one can see them but me. oh,and put some wings on the bees so they don’t look like one of my nephews had their way with them.
    thanks.

  13. Ok that size needle almost makes me break out in a sweat, lordy that’s tiny – the circle part sounds confusing for this rookie knitter. Yours turned out great and that blue pair your whipping up – well that color looks dee-lish sister and so pretty on Pooh.

    hugs – Karen

  14. Great socks! I can’t believe people can actually knit them. I’m handicapped that way. Those sockies knitted on the size 0 needles look so finely knitted. Amazing.

  16. I’ve got to try that no-knead bread, too, as I’ve been hearing about it so much. Your sock projects look great and the Pooh picture makes me laugh as it’s so cute.

  17. Fab socks Anna, you are so talented – I have serious knitting envy. Hope you had a good weekend, I could do with some nice warm socks this evening, the weather here is yucky again

  18. They came out wonderful…and the Mockery’s are stunning. Cami can be persuasive, can’t she. You sure have alot of people responding to your blog -Wow! I’m impressed. You are a lady of many talents – I so love my “Robin” bag – thank you, thank you, thank you again.
    Always, Robin

  19. Shame about Poo’s cracked face! But the ear warmers work all the same! I think that you are very clever with your knitting … in a circle, incredible!

  20. i love those socks…but such tiny needles. i need to find a local knitting buddy who will help start me back again on knitting with needles. i like my loom, but i still am unsure about so much…

    lol @ pooh’s ear warmers…pretty colour though :)

  21. I’ve got sock knitting envy!….or just plain knitting envy. The blue pair-to-be looks so warm and cozy already. I really need to find a local knitting class which I can use as excuse for some yarn fondling.
