Ok, Boys and Girls, raise your hands if you’ve been around long enough to remember when I finished this blue and white quilt top. I recognize a few of you out there (thanks, btw, so very much for sticking around with me for so long!) Over three years ago, I shipped it off to a hand quilter. She had it for about a year and a half and it’s been sitting around waiting for it’s binding since then.
The long drive to Oklahoma last week was the perfect opportunity for Mama Bunny to get busy and git-r-done (that’s Oklahoma-speak.) I don’t know why it always takes me so long to get around to the binding details. I think it’s my favorite part of quiltmaking and it really doesn’t even take that long.
The fabrics for this quilt came from a fabric exchange that I had with the quilty peeps and a few other quilt friends a looong time ago. We all showed up with enough yardage of several blue prints to make quarter yard cuts for everyone that was there. Then we each went home with lots of new blue prints and the challenge was for each of us to create a different quilt.
I chose the Lady of the Lake pattern. I remember that Gurney was going to make a blue bow-tie quilt, but I can’t remember what the other girls were going to make. Send me your pictures girls – I’ll put them on the blog LOL!!! (I think this might be the first time I’ve ever beaten Jewels to the quilting punch — she always finished our little challenges first.)
Anyway, I Looooove my little blue quilt. It’s Me. I’ll have to look, but I think it’s my favorite quilt so far. Sorry I don’t have a full size picture. The above pictures were taken while we were in Oklahoma and in true Oklahoma fashion it was windier than all get-out (whatever that is.) Then, it was rainy and gloomy here yesterday, so I didn’t get the deed done. You can see a full-size pre-quilt version on the old post (not to be confused witht the Old Post Corral where I took these pictures {wink}{wink}), if you’re interested.
So, chalk up a finished UFO. Yipee! And if that didn’t make me happy enough, look at the wonderful little gift I found in the mail when we returned home from our trip:
A darling charm from Kim. I’ve already put it on my little sewing kit scissors. Isn’t the packaging gorgeous? Kim always adds the most perfect touch to her gifts. It’s all just beautiful — thank you so much Kim — I Love it!
Now … off to wrangle up some dinner. SweetiePie is here for a visit, so I must hurry — there are card games to be played!
XOXO,
Anna
Oh, it’s so pretty! Blue and white are perfect partners – white clouds in a blue sky!
I cannot imagine hand quilting a full sized quilt though. Blimey.
What a wise move–sending it out to be hand quilted! I love hand quilting, but it’s also the rock my good intentions perish on! Do you have Amish quilters nearby who do that kind of thing? I can’t imagine hand quilting something large and then giving it away. If I hand quilt it, it’s mine. No sharing!
Wow, that is a BEAUTIFUL quilt! I can see why it’s your favorite. :)
Yay!! Congrats on a very beautiful finish!! I am so glad that you love binding too. Relaxing isn’t it. I finished mine yesterday and started on a new one! When you get a chance, please take a photo of the finished quilt full on!!
What beautiful blue and white quilt and the fact that it’s been hand quilted makes it all the more special.
I’m so happy that you got your little present in the mail and I glad you like it!

What a wonderful Quilt Anna! I have always loved the Lady of the Lake pattern, and blue is my favourite colour!
Anna you beat me alright, mine was a nine patch. I hated it and it didn’t lie flat so on one of my throwing out binges I tossed it out. (I am afraid I am classified as a hoarder) Help me I have fallen and can’t get out of my projects…..xoxo

I just realized I missed a post. Google Reader has been giving me fits. I think I finally have it worked out, but it was not without a snit or two. Not pretty. All those pop bottles are yummy looking. My diet does not include soda right now. I miss Dr. P. He quenches my thirst for bubbly goodness.
Ohh, I remember the waving ocean picture of this quilt! Love it even more now that it’s been quilted! Great finish!

The quilt is beautiful! And really, are there people out there who are called “hand quilters” that you can ship a quilt off to?? How interesting.
It’s beautiful, Anna. I love the colours. I have always loved reddish tones, but lately I feel more and more drawn to blues.

Oooooh – this is lovely – I want to rush out to the studio and pull out all my blue and white fabrics!! But not today, as we are off shortly to visit Malcolm’s sister. I can just about manage plain knitting in the car, but I don’t think I could sew!!
Congratulations on finishing this very classic beauty! Lady of the lake is a favorite block – with a scary number of triangles…
Hi Anna,

I’ve been always drawn to 2-color-quilts…and I think the LotL pattern is perfect to showcase all those pretty prints.

Here I am doing some catchup, and some of your posts have “comments closed”. So, just bare with me while I ramble on and on and on! Gotta make up all those comments.
What time do you want me over for the post roast dinner? Looks yummy! Of course I have no clue what rump roast looks like. Not even sure I’ve ever seen that cut in small town America!
Love that blue quilt! On my list of to do is to make a blue and white quilt. I find it so elegant! Timeless!
Running – I used to be an avid runner myself, now the only thing that seems to run on a regular basis is my nose. I too want to get back into shape, but ….. the mind seems stronger than the will! Prof Despland called it the will to will! ;o)
Love what you did with the Ghaslies! Yes, they are thinking of doing another run and you bet I’ll get them. I was so annoyed at my rep! What they had left just didn’t do it for me!
Don’t remember anything else I wanted to say! hum…. Well, thanks for sharing! Cheers!
Gorgeous Quilt! Congrats on the finish! I just finished a binding today and I won’t mention how long the quilt has been languishing. :) You’re not alone. LOL
