I’m interrupting this mighty-fine weekend to show you the wonderful package I received in the mail today. A few weeks ago Nancy of Nancy’s Sting Og Ting had a blog anniversary. She gathered her comments, randomly selected one, and yelled “Thimbleanna, Come On Down!” Today, the fabulous prize package arrived!
Just look — an adorable bag, a Norwegian moose magnet, a thimble and a note to me on a very pretty card.
I was so excited to see the pretty thimble — isn’t it cute? It’s from the town where Nancy lives.
And look at Nancy’s exquisite hand embroidery. I LOVE embroidery and hand embroidery is the frosting on the cake. Look at those perfect little stitches. And I love the way Nancy colored a little shading inside of the embroidery lines.
Every little detail about this bag is fantastic, from the label inside of the bag, to the drawstring cording with it’s own little pouch on the end to protect the cords from fraying. Nancy’s workmanship is awesome. I’ve been carrying the little bag around with me all day. I feel like Nancy came over here and gave me a big hug. Thank you so very much Nancy for making me feel so special!
And while we’re on the subject of embroidery, I’ve done a little embroidery this week too. Natalie at Cinderberry Stitches offered this adorable free pattern a few weeks ago. It came along just at the right time for a little project I’d started. I was amazed at how small the little birds are — I’ve put a nickel in the picture to provide some scale.
Thank you so much for your gift too Natalie! I’ve really enjoyed this little embroidery and have learned a few things. I grew up embroidering on dishtowels and I always forget to put an extra layer behind my embroidery. I didn’t notice until I took this picture how much that extra layer is needed. I also love this new way of doing straight stitching. I’ve always used a traditional running stitch, but this method seems so much cleaner.
Now, back to your regularly scheduled, busy weekend. I hope it’s a fun one with great weather where you are!
XOXO,
Anna
Love the awesome bag you received from Nancy – just gorgeous. Your little bird stitchery is so sweet – I will have to check out that pattern.
Wow, what a neat prize. She put a lot of time into that bag. And look at those little birdies! You have been busy. It was a lovely day here. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
oh you are one lucky gal!!!
your cinderberry stitches project looks SUPER cute.
Wow, I always love embroidery too, and that is really nice!
(Both!)
You lucky duck!! Thanks for linking that free pattern – tooooo cute. One of these days I need to dig out the embroidery floss again.
Just lovely!! You are one lucky lady.
Oh so very cute. I’m hooked on all the blogs of the embroidery girls! I’m thinking, after I finish the Grandma’s Flower Garden quilt, I may have to start an embroidery project. I can remember my mom embroidering on denim shirts! Man I wish I had one of those shirts. ;o) Hope we get to see the project your working on. ooxx~jod
What a great gift. Her stitching is wonderful. As if yours. I love the project your working on. Natalies stuff is the best.
Nancy is one of my best friends and she does so lovely work. Always so kind and generous,
Both Nancy’s and your stitcheries are beautiful. Having never done any embroidery like this (since I was in the girl guides) I’m curious- is that backstich? Do you use embroidery silk or thick cotton?
What beautiful embroidery. I love the fabrics she’s used too, the whole bag is just lovely.
Isn’t receiving something that is unexpected great! Especially something as precious as what you received! I just downloaded the pattern from Cinderberry Stitches and hope to also make this bag. It is lovely. By the way, the tree models are a hoot!
what a darling bag you received!!! the embroidery looks perfect! yours doesn’t look half bad either, except for that bird you messed up on and then covered up with a nickel to provide us with a little “scale”.
hope your weekend is fun!!
What gorgeous goodies! I love that bag and the stitching is beautiful!!
I also love your stitching of the little wrens. Thanks for the link, it’s such a pretty design and will have to go on my to do list :)

What a great little tote and gifts.

What great gifts. You also won something else and I don’t remember which blog but it was the blue and white bag. I also entered that but since I didn’t win, I’m glad you did. Hugs and enjoy the rest of your day.
A thimble for Thimbleanna…that is soooo cute. Very pretty bag…I am in awe. Then again, I don’t think I could embroider anything, never mind doing a straight stitch. The blog world is such a fabulous place :)
Very nice little prize package … you did very well Anna! Our weather was absolutely beautiful on Saturday, thanks!
I love that embroidery pattern! You are lucky winning all these prizes Anna

Cute Anna!! The bag you received from Nancy is super sweet! Thanks for the link to the embroidery pattern. I keep collecting patterns in hopes that someday I will actually do something with them, “the act of” hand stitching has just never really appealed to me but I think I’m changing especially when I see posts like this!
Gosh! LUCKY YOU!!! That is quite the haul! Have fun with all of it, but be sure to share the pictures! :):):)
I’m so tickled for you and think you deserve every bit of this fantastic package!
Lovely package of goodies – and thank you so much for the link to Cinderberry – I shall have fun over there!
Wow! What an adorable bag and great loot! I think I would carry that around with me everywhere.
What lovely goodies! And your stitchery is so cute!
Such a nice prize to win and a thimble for Thimbleanna too. I love all the adorable embroidery swirls and twirls and such.
You received the cutest bag and yes the embroidery is stunning. Your new project is looking awesome with the little birdies.
Both are gorgeous! I’d love to have some time for embroidery…maybe after market.
What a sweet package from Nancy. Congrats. And your stitching is really good. I am not that neat when I stitch, thats for sure.
What a great prize you got there Ms Anna –
Love that stitchery and have looked at it myself, but only looked. What do you mean a new way to do the straight stitch – hmmm care to fill a girl in because I’m to lazy to go read the instructions – really I am. Ohhhh baby I’m so tired :).
