Well, I don’t know about your place, but it hasn’t been very productive around here in the last week or so. I do have excuses though — so I hope I can be forgiven.
First off, today was MeMum and BigDaddy’s 60th wedding anniversary. Sixty Years. We had a nice little family dinner last night — it was wonderful to take the time to go out together and relax. It was fun to hear the stories of the day they got married (they eloped) and their wedding trip (they saw a mushroom cloud from an open-air atomic bomb test as they drove through the Nevada desert on their way home). Anyway, it was a good time, and we all feel fortunate that we could celebrate together.
And then, there’s been a fabric delivery here in ThimbleannaLand. Lots of beautiful Liberty fabrics. Personally, I think this excuse could stand on it’s own — it’s hard to resist fondling beautiful fabric – I know you understand! Here are some of the pretty prints that have arrived:
These Liberties (and a few more) are loaded into my little shop. (Bundles will be coming soon!) Thank you SO much to those of you who have purchased fabric — your purchases have made it so that the selection can expand.
So, back to my excuse list — I blame this next distraction on Jan. She posted on instagram that she was mesmerized by a live feed of an eagle’s nest in Latvia and now I’m hooked too! It started off, innocently enough — look at that cute little baby!
Before long, it was time for a little dinner. I was fascinated watching Dad Eagle (Is that the Dad, Jan?) feed the baby. I was amazed that when he pulled pieces off of a fish that were too big, he would put the piece back under his talon to rip off a smaller piece for the baby. And if he pulled up a bone or tail, he ate it himself — only the finest for that little Eaglet.
Then they settled down for a little nap, which was perfect timing. I had to go take MeMum out for lunch so that the cleaning ladies that she doesn’t have (haha) could do their magic.
When I got back a few hours later, they were sleeping, but look! Someone had re-stocked the pantry with quite a few fish. They must be amazing fishermen!
I keep checking in now and then (they’re just waking up to a new day as we speak). You might want to check these Eagles out too, don’t blame ME if you get hooked. Blame JAN!!!!
And, if those top three distractions weren’t enough, there’s this:
Isn’t she beautiful (the knits too!)? (And can we take a minute to oooh and aaaah over that sweet print on Kate’s dress????) How exciting that little Prince George has a baby sister. I can’t wait for the name reveal — and … bring on the little smocked dresses!!!
In keeping with the royal theme, I had to hurry and whip up a little project pouch (it’s hard to tell, but there’s a clear plastic front on the pouch) with some Brit-themed fabric. Sometimes I take a little something to work on during my lunch hour at work, and I’m tired of using ziplock bags. Everything was in my stash (I love it when that happens) and this was a quick little project. I’m planning on making a few more — these will be perfect for my Chuck Nohara blocks. (Btw, CrazyMom has a cute pattern for totally clear project bags.)
Whew! I’m done making excuses — thanks for sticking with me! Hope you’re having a great weekend — it’s a beautiful one here in the midwest USA!
XOXO,
Anna
Sounds as though you have been fully occupied! Congratulations to your Mum and Dad!
The eagle website looks fascinating but I am going to resist otherwise that will be more hours sitting on the computer when I should be doing something else. I think it is wonderful that they had a little girl. Congratulations to your parents too. 60 years is wonderful!
What a beautiful photo of your parents holding hands, Anna and such a wonderful thing to celebrate – especially after their near miss with a mushroom cloud!!
I totally understand being captivated by the ‘eagle cam’, I did a week’s volunteering many years ago on one of the RSPBs Osprey reserves in Scotland and loved spending hours watching the live video of the nest. So sad that they had to do it because of the fear of people stealing the chicks. I also got to go right up to the nest tree and watch the chicks being ringed which was a huge privilege.
I absolutely love your new Liberty fabrics!! I bought some Liberty scraps for Applique recently and I can see why it has so many fans!!
Hope you have a great weekend xxx
ooh off to check out the eagle cam.! loving all your liberty, and yes isn’t the little princess a sweetie!
You’re excused x 5 times! Congratulations to MM and BD on their 60 years together. I bet unwrapping the box that contains bolts of Liberty is just like Christmas. That eagle footage is amazing, I’m not sure if I should follow the link or not, I know I would get hooked.
Oh my golly , I clicked over to the eagle, it’s really quite surreal, thanks ( and thanks Jan) for the link. Going back to watch more…
Wow! 60th anniversary, so amazing! A big huge congratulations to MeMum and Big Daddy.
(And super cute pouch!)
Congratulations to your mum and dad. 60 years is an amazing number so well done them!
Isn’t our new royal baby gorgeous? I was so pleased that she was a girl. :o)
60 years is an achievement for sure – congrats to them — love the eagle! that would be interesting to watch. Fabric is pretty – why is is sold width of fabric instead of fat quarters? just wondered.
Happy Anniversary to your parents! That is certainly something to celebrate. And I think I will pass on checking out the webcam as I have recently become hooked on another one. The surf at the beach in California – I can sit here and just watch the waves rolling in and people walking the beach! And being into spring cleaning here it is easy to be sidetracked! The fabrics are gorgeous! And I think I have to make one of those pouches. Even though I no longer carry my projects to work with me. It is just too darn cute!! Thanks for sharing all as I have my Sunday morning coffee!
Awwwwwww Happy 60th Anniversary to your parents that is awesome! Fabrics look beautiful and I love your little pouch. xoxoxo
I blame you for all my computer breaks this morning – I’ve been looking at the eagle off and on all morning when I come inside for my breaks from the garden
I am dazzled by that pile of fabric! Wow!

Congratulations to your parents, what a testimony to their love and care for each other. I am off to make a few projects in the next few days…I hope! Bibs and burp cloths for a baby in the extended family and a Frozen cape for my granddaughter Ilika’s 4th birthday. I do love your pouch especially the idea of a clear front so you can do a quick check and make sure everything you need is in there. as for the Liberty..well is there anything to say besides drooling.
Well, your fabrics are beautiful and the baby eagle is cute, but I won’t be watching in case its parents bring in something more gory than fish. I can just about not be too sorry for fish (though I am, a bit) but it might progress to mice or something.
And yes, baby Wales is cute too but I fear she has her father’s nose… .
… and you’d have thought they would have been able to afford a matching bonnet and shawl set…
Happy anniversary to your parents! What a wonderful occasion. I love the look of your stack of Liberty fabrics. I have total Liberty envy! Wow. I’m so glad the royal baby made you happy too. I feel like such a weirdo about it but those two and their babies make me really glad. I just think they bring nice, happy news to the world and we can always use more of that. The baby is beautiful and I can’t wait until they announce her name! I’m hoping for tomorrow…
Congrats to Mum and BigDaddy. I love to stare at my Libertys. I’ve had some for 30 years. I probably should make something from them, haha. I want the pattern for the knitted bonnet. When William was born, He had a smocked bubble (remember?). The pattern was called Prince William and I made the girl version so many times. Did you make it for one of your boys? And those bags you make!!!!! Fantastic. I need to make some of those. I might need a tutorial….hint, hint.
Congrats to your Mum and Dad!!
Hooray that comment went through, maybe it’s the sunshine in Majorca made it work!!
Happy Anniversary to your mom and dad! My husband and I just celebrated 36 years (Frannie is only 14 – do the math – but we also have a son – he’s 29 – two ONLY children). I love the aqua fabric in the middle of the stack, not to mention the precious knitted princess hat and the fabric on Kate’s dress. A question – is the zipper on the pouch easy to install – zippers and I don’t get along!
What a fantastic celebration — 60 years married! What a testimony to all of us.
The eaglet….such good stuff to see streaming LIVE. Good use of techno.
Fabric! Love those Liberties.
All good excuses.
Charlotte Elizabeth Diana … and she IS a pretty little girl, isn’ t she?!?
best wishes to my favorite Auntie MeMum and Uncle BigDaddy – 60 years together is so incredibly awesome!!!
happy belated anniversary to bigdaddy and memum! i’m afraid to look at your eagle feed, i’m still following a pigeon from chicago from who knows how long ago.
liberty, liberty, liberty. you’re killin’ me smalls. thanks for pricing it so much better than most… and now we don’t have to buy it from Australia anymore!!!
alright….. back to work. (someone has to save the world you know)
:waves madly
Anna Banana! It’s so good to be here again…Love those sweet Liberty prints. Unfortunately I’m under strict orders from the good cop in my head to buy no more fabric. the bad cop whispers in my ear when you show me stuff like that so please, cease and desist!
When I saw the first pics of the little princess I though “Boy, little innocent with that siver spoon in her mouth, little does she know what lies ahead, much of it wonderful but that living in a fishbowl bit? She does look beautiful.
Your project bags look gorgeous. I also get bored with zip locks. May have to make a few of those.
As for your Latvian eagle, so fascinating! I love birds and if a Mama Bird had written a book on raising chicks when i was raising mine, I’d have wanted a signed copy…..
My, my Miss Isabelle! Have you not heard of eclectic dressing?
I tried to watch those eagles but of course it’s night time now, so I’ll have to wait till the morning. Congratulations to your parents to their Diamond Wedding Anniversary! How wonderful for them and your family. Yes, isn’t little Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana adorable? And I can’t believe how well Kate looked just hours after giving birth wearing high heels no less.
What an amazing milestone! 6o years –
I’m swooning over the new baby princess and I think Charlotte is a lovely name even though I was rooting for Victoria Diana. and her knitted items were spectacular!
I’m loving the eagles nest too!
awesome projects bag.
Congratulations to your parents – what an amazing milestone! I’m so glad you were able to enjoy family time together. Love all your other excuses – particularly those Liberty prints.
Happy 60th to your parents! Congratulations!! We are in the middle of planning a party to celebrate 50 years with my in-laws this summer. I am working on coming up with some table decorations/centerpieces. We’re doing a casual party so I’m thinking something with burlap and painted mason jars.
How wonderful for MeMum and Bigdaddy – that’s an amazing milestone for them. A great way to celebrate as well – this way you could all sit and enjoy that special moment and relieve those wonderful memories of two people you love very much. I hope to make it to 60 years of marriage. Gosh those fabrics are yum yum yummy. Do you deliver to like Mpls – I’m just sayin.
Hugs – Ms. Farmhouse
Hi Anna…….Happy Anniversary to your folks! I loved your excuses…….my only one is pure laziness. I love your fabrics and the restraint I have been exercising is rapidly dissolving. I also really love your Aunties quilt……I should have gotten in on that! This is me kicking myself. Have a good hump day (have you seen the commercial where the two camels in the zoo are talking to each other and the one says to the other, “tomorrow’s not even Wednesday…..”) That really cracks me up for some reason. Lol.
wow! on the eagles nest….and I’m totally in love with that new royal brit!
Oh…I just read your post on my blog!! I am excited now! Any travel planning just let me know! And hopefully we might be able to catch up!
You have been very busy! Congratulations to your parents on their special anniversary! Loved the little fascinating snippets about their wedding day :)
Your pile of Liberty prints is so gorgeous!
Happy weekend!

Oh my, huge and sincere congratulations to your Mom and Dad on their 60th wedding anniversary! I absolutely adore the photo you took of their hands. What a treasure that is.
Great to see you again after so long … I tend not to cruise around blogland nearly as much as I used to. Cheerio for now.
Oh, congratulations to your mom and dad and felicitations to you for the joy of witnessing all those years of love! That’s a rarity. The Liberty fabrics are gorgeous. Resisting. And yes the little princess is just beautiful. I like your project pouch, too. You are just always making the cutest thing!
Finally getting around to blog reading….Congratulations on MeMum & BigDaddy’s 60th wedding anniversary, how exciting for them. Awe, both babies are so precious, and I’m loving the knits!
Hello lovely,
Big congrats to your mum and dad. Great milestone!! Are you getting ready for Spring Market…..ahh Minneapolis and the fun we had there last time!! Travel safely. xx
Those Liberty prints … wow!
And the baby eagle is just amazing.
We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our first grandbaby here … any day now!
Congrats to your parents! Beautiful prints. Are you at Quilt Market? Have a great week/weekend!
Wow, did you take that top picture? Beautiful! The eagle story is fascinating!
I am so late to the party here! What a lovely shot of your parents’ hands ~ how nice you were able to all celebrate together.
Dare I ask if you’ve clicked on any of the other bird cams on that site? The one to the far right was an empty nest for weeks but now they’ve changed it to a water bird’s nest in the reeds ~ there are two new chicks and what looks like an as-yet-unhatched egg still there. The mother comes and goes ~ I like the sound of the wind blowing through the reeds. And as for the eagles, that baby’s getting BIG! Unfortunately, it turned its rear to the camera and let loose, resulting in that smudge. It seems to be clearing up now. (The stork nest also has a baby.) Now you see why I haven’t been catching up on my blog reading!
