1. SNOW! It’s snowing here tonight. They said we might get as much as five inches. I’m trying not to get too excited, but. SNOW!!!!
2. I had a VERY lucky streak in blog winnings a few weeks oops, months ago. From Alison I won a beautiful set of Christmas ornaments. Aren’t they pretty? They arrived just in time for Christmas — Thank you Alison, I love them!
3. In another giveaway, I won a pattern for the very pretty Crossroads block from Meredithe. For some reason, when I won, I didn’t realize that the pattern included a template set. I love the pattern and the templates are just perfect. They’re pretty and sturdy and very cool. Thank you Meredithe — what a fun giveaway prize.
4. In yet ANOTHER giveaway, I won a gift certificate to the Fat Quarter Shop from Vreni. It took me a few weeks to make my selections, but it sure was fun to do a little shopping. I had to add a few new Cat-in-the-Hat prints to my Dr. Suess stash. That red dot comes from Moda’s Circa 1934 collection and the bottom two pink-ish fabrics are a Dear Stella line. Thank you SO much Vreni — it was really fun to add some goodies to my stash!
If you haven’t been to Alison, Meredithe, or Vreni‘s blogs, please check them out — they all have beautiful blogs and they’re lots of fun to read.
5. I’m hiking right along on my applique UFO. I’ve finished one more border since Christmas. Considering it took me 10+ (15?) years to complete the first two borders, that’s big progress. Jan mentioned these John James Gold’nGlide applique needles a few weeks ago on her blog so I thought I’d try them out. I like them! They’re a tad bigger than the needles I have been using (just random needles from the sewing box) but, true to their word, they glide through the fabric. Thanks Jan for a great tip!
Ok. Off for some stitching. Happy Weekend!
XOXO,
Anna
Anna,
You must have been living right to be so blessed!!!
Are you needle turning applique? I will have to try the Glide needles. I love John James products but have never tried these.
Love the Dr. Seuss fabric.
You have indeed had a lucky streak lately. Love the cat in the hat fabrics you got. I can’t stop buying them either as they are coming out with new designs all the time and I just can’t resist them!
Lucky lucky girl – except for the snow. I’d never consider it lucky to get snow. Ugh.
15+ years isn’t too bad. It’s a long-term project, right? I’m sewing too. I have proclaimed victory over the most current Swoon block. Hurray!
Wow, congratulations on your lovely prizes. I’m impressed that you’ve dug the applique out, have fun with it!
i anticipate a day outside in the snow for us!! ill leave the shoveling to someone else though!
what a fun winning streak!!! i might need some 1934 dots…that is your second round, isnt it?
We have snow, too! Only an inch, but the kids still think they can sled.
What a haul! By the way, it’s snowing here as I type (does the word type date me? – what would be the correct lingo now?). I say keep the snow and shove(l) it – I’d rather be knitting! I still have some kale in the garden. While I’m outside, I’ll shake off the snow and bring some in for dinner.
Yay it’s snowing here too Anna, but now we’re getting some ice on top… yuck. Love your happy thimble banner, looks like they are having so much fun. How do you like using your new one (thimble)? I love mine.
I love all of your wins! (I was tempted at the Market to buy that Dr. Seuss…)
I LOVE to applique. It is very relaxing… I, too, am working on loooong term projects ;-)
I’ll post pictures soonish. Pretty please post more of the applique?
Lucky girl! Nice wins! But you jinxed me. We have the “s” word too. Currently falling. I now need to “embrace my inner snow” because the Husband got a commercial plowing contract and he tells me – 4 good snow storms and that will pay for our trip to Disney. C’MON SNOW! :)
I love snow. Except when the power goes out.
I’m going to try those appliqué needles too. I’ve already switched to silk thread, which is amazing!
Even though we had a big blue blob hovering over us on the weather map all day yesterday, we only had sleet last night. Not wet sleet, just more than an inch of little ice balls. I don”t have to go anywhere so I can stay in and sew. :)
Those dots even though from a different collection look great with the Dr. Suess fabric. Your applique work looks great as well. As always, I love your thimble picture. You do some fun things with them.
Wow . . . you’re a lucky one! lol And along with loving snow, I love John James gold needles nearly as much. (Okay, more!) I discovered them when I was doing a lot of cross stitching, and they’re the ONLY way to go for me. My skin blackens the nickel-plated needles, and since I had to special order the gold needles anyway, I get the #28 shorties, so I can stitch for an extra few x’s before needing to get new thread. ;o)
So, whatever you need to stitch, John James is your best friend.
Snow PLUS blog winnings??!! Girl, you’re on a roll. Buy some lottery tickets! ;p
I really like the John James needles. I also like Scarlet Today needles for embroidery.
Have a lovely weekend Miss Thimble Anna!
You lucky lucky girl! So many wins and snow! WOW! :o) Go buy a lottery ticket will ya?
I would love some snow today 0 was over 100 here yesterday and it is going to be the same th rest of the week
The only thing snow is worthy of is SNOWDAYS Anna. And fyi, we are long over due for one because it keeps snowing on the weekends. BOO. I cannot brace my inner snow. I just can’t. Lucky wins you have there! :) Keep on with the applique and you will be done in no time!
well who would’ve known that you’re the luckiest person in the universe. now that i know that you are… i just may have you start doing your winning vibes toward that contest at my work next month so i can win that stinking JEEP! well since there is snow comin’ your way, we’ll expect some snow angels in the near future.
i’m heading over to FQS cuz i had no idea about CITH fabric. i don’t know that i’ll be able to control myself.
SNOW, ahhh, I find that sooo hard to even imagine as I sit here wishing I had a swimming pool! Nice luck on the giveaways!
You certainly are lucky …… will you pick some lottery numbers for me!!
I hope you did the snow, ours was beautiful.
You’ll like the needles, I think, nice and sharp and sturdy.
Thanks for the washing advice, I’ll test the fabric soon and maybe I’ll make a report.
go giants!!
You can have my share of the snow. LOL But the rest of the loot, I’d be happy to share. I do so like the Dr. Suess fabrics. Even a little bit in a quilt just adds a spark.
Ohhhh, I wish I shared your enthusiam about snow. I need an attitude adjustment. In my estimation, snow=WORK. Shoveling. Winter clothes and boots all over. Mud tracked in. A vehicle smeared with dirt. Wet shoes. Difficult travel by foot and car. YUCK! Ok. The rant is over. Enjoy your snow, friend. Glad the thimbles are happy.
~Cassie
Wow, what a lucky girl you are, winning all those wonderful things! :) Needless to say, I am not as happy about the snow as you are. LOL I am already wishing for Spring! :)
We got a bit of snow this weekend too! It was very wet and quite the mess this morning. It was more like shoveling ice.
Congrats on the winning streak. It couldn’t happen to a nicer person.
You are so funny. Love this post.
Congrats on all the winnings. How did your snow end up? We are getting a dusting today.
Help! It looks like your thimbles are getting up and walking away!! ;)
Love this whole post!! xx
Snow!!! :)
Congratulations on your win.
So jealous of your snow. :(
Is that a photo of your home? It’s a beautiful image. Congrats on all of the giveaway wins– lucky you! Love that Dr. Suess fabric.
You must be so glad to have finished the stripping of your entry way. Looks and sounds like it was alot of work.
Looking forward to seeing your Crossroads block/s! Hope you’ve enjoyed the snow. Well done with the applique UFO – keep going!!
SNOW! What is that stuff? LOL! I actually miss it at times but then I wake up and put on my flip flops:-) Nice wins–thanks for the JJ needle review.
