Happy Friday! Here are a few things happening around here this week:
1. It’s Candy Corn season again — Yipee!!! I Love Candy Corn mixed with salted peanuts. It just makes me want to sew lots of Halloween fabrics. I probably won’t this year, but I WILL eat lots of Candy Corn! ;-D
2. Fall always makes me want to knit sweaters for some reason. I pulled this stripey project out of the UFO closet last week for my lunch time knitting. I started this last year, but it is s-l-o-o-o-w going, so it ended up being shelved for spring and summer. Maybe I’ll finish it in a few years haha. The stripes are made by knitting a variegated colorful yarn and a variegated neutral yarn every-other-row. I love the pattern it’s making and the drape of the “fabric” is just wonderful!
3. I finished piecing the baby quilt for FinallyAGirl last week and started quilting it this week. I’d forgotten how much I love to hand quilt (sore fingers aside). I’m loving working on this project in the evenings.
4. Remember this quilt??? She comes home from her year-long hand-quilted spa trip tomorrow and I can’t wait to see her! Hopefully there will be some binding happening next week — if I can tear myself away from the baby quilt.
5. A few new fabrics have arrived in my little shop. A re-stock on the famous black and white binding stripe and two new little Japanese prints. The knitting print is a lightweight canvas and will make some adorable knitting bags. The little Paris Girl print is so darn cute I had to get her. She’s having a very busy day — shopping, cleaning, baking, sewing, and lots of pampering!
Have a wonderful weekend!
XOXO,
Anna
love those fabric prints – cute. Love the quilts too of course – candy corn not so much :)
I heart candy corn. Never tried it with peanuts but a nice mix of sweet and salty. Oh those stripes are to die for. I can’t wait to see the binding on your quilt. That is truly gorgeous.
The baby quilt is beautiful! You’re giving me ideas! My niece is expecting twins in December – a boy and a girL – so I need to get busy! But meanwhile I just finished a quilt top for my sister’s first grandchild born last month….and we all know I’m the queen of three year quilts! But keeping it simple this time and drawing inspiration and encouragement from you!
candy corn, blech! argh! ew! (envision batman) i DO want to see what you do with your halloween fabric though. okay, here we go… your stripey sweater is very cool and i love how you got the stripes. when i saw you making those tiny stars a bit ago i was very curious what you were doing with them and, as always, i want to copy you!!! what a beautiful quilt that will be. sigh. i’m full of angst that you can’t be thatperfectbabyboy’s other mimi. somehow, just somehow, we have to kick hesnotgoodenoughformydaughter to the curb and bring in secondchild. let the planning begin… i REALLY love the circles on the edge of the quilt that you’re making for me. they really finish it off quite well and i can’t tell you how much it means that you went to the expense and effort to have it hand quilted by the amish. i’m so touched. love the little paris fabric and those stripes, well, you KNOW how i feel about those stripes.
you amaze us like always.
candy corn – i lurve me some candy corn … i used to buy the Harvest Mix mix from Mountain Man and it was soooo good that i decided one year to make it myself with just the stuff that i liked – candy corn, indian candy corn, boston baked beans, burnt peanuts, toffee peanuts, mellocreme pumpkins, and black jelly beans … i dunno how much money i spent on all that, but it made a HUMONGOUS bowl of candy – i took it took work and placed a stack of Deep Rock cups next to it (so certain grubby people wouldn’t put their grubby mitts in the bowl) … one guy actually pulled up a chair and stuffed his face till the bowl was empty (and i am talking BIG BOWL – like for mixing four-loaves-of-bread-at-one-time-big bowl) and asked if i had more out in the car … sheesh!!! (on a side note, he was fired a few months later for – get this – stealing from the cafeteria … not cash, FOOD) … anywho, i do really, lurve candy corn and i don’t think they need to improve it (seriously, peanut butter cup?!? waffles and strawberry?!? chocolate chip and pancakes?!? french toast and maple syrup?!? sea salt chocolate?!? really?!?)…
ha ha ha!!! i just read what brigette wrote – hesnotgoogenoughformydaughter vs. secondchild – and i was thinking along the same lines, ‘cept there isn’t currently a hesnotgoogenoughformydaughter, so there wouldn’t have to be any curbkicking … i would even be willing to forgo the quilt that you are making for her – ha ha ha!!!
The quilts are looking good!! Would that be the Aunts’ Quilt??!! (Should get mine out again and do a block or two…….). Cute fabrics. Enjoy your weekend xx
Lots of super stuff in this post! I’ve never had candy corn, but as I have a sweet tooth I would probably like it. Looking forward to seeing your Aunts’ Quilt – mine is still waiting for its outer border!
I have never heard of candy corn but I love your quilts (of course). Give little Finally a cuddle from her Scottish auntie next time you see her! I’m frustrated at not having seen Little M for nearly a fortnight. Sigh. She’s growing fast…
I feel so sorry for your friends Anna who have never had candy corn! It is my favorite candy and I have several bags stock piled because we never want to run out. Both quilts are spectacular! I have sent 3 out this month with one on its way back but I am anxious for the Fall one to return, the binding is made already. Hugs!!
Love those fabrics… And your knitting!
Happy Candy Corn. My daughter likes the big pumpkins, lol.
Your hand quilting looks great. And what great new fabrics. Love that B&W stripe.
so, did you have someone hand quilt your quilt? I can’t wait to see too!!
lovely knitting. It’s not quite sweater time here yet, but I’m hoping is comes soon!
What a gorgeous sweater that will be! And the fabrics – cute, cute, cute. Ah, candy corn…….want! The baby girl quilt is so pretty. And of course, the Aunt’s Quilt, too. Can’t wait to see them both finished.
Anticipation. Just can’t wait to see the finished pink quilt!
Beautiful, wondrous, fun…fabulous job. This quilt makes me happy.
