I’m Ba-a-a-ack…

…and even though it was a long vacation, it wasn’t long enough.

Las Vegas was HOT(How DO you kids in the southwest survive it?)

Vegas

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon was GORGEOUS.

North Rim

Zion National Park was SUPER delicious.

Zion

Bryce National Park was HAZY(A forest fire had half of the park closed.)

Bryce

The family was FUN(I don’t think that frozen t-shirt game will ever get old.)

Family

Arches National Park was SWELTERING for our hike.  (But it was fun anyway.)

Arches

And now July has slipped away.  I’ve missed you guys — I would ask what you’ve been doing, but it’s clear you’ve been blogging.  My google reader doesn’t count past 1,000 posts and it took me a few days of clearing to get below 1,000.  I’m trying to catch up with everyone, but I’ve had to do some skipping.  (Guaranteed skippage happened if you’re a blog that makes me click through to read your post.  Sorry. )

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments while I was gone.  I’ve had to call a truce on comment answering and will try to start up again this weekend.  Next time, I’ll be back with a tale of a fantastic blog meet-up that some of you already know about. Have a good weekend!

XOXO,
Anna

  5. Welcome back Anna! That trip looks amazing but I wouldn’t have survived the heat! One minute I’d be there and the next minute there would just be a puddle on the ground!

  8. Yikes thats some hot weather there sister and you were hiking in that – gulp, not sure I could have done that – BUT those amazing views might have dragged my butt out of the car. You’ve got some incredible shots with your little silver. You know I have a little fear of heights – hmmmm could I have done some of that.

Can’t wait to hear about your little bloggy get together, the little bags you made them were ADORABLE of course :)

Welcome back sister friend – Mrs. Farmhouse

  9. Welcome Back AnnaLou!!! I missed you!!!! Your vacation looked wonderful…can I go with you next time??? ;-) xoxoxo Junie

  10. Anna we are so glad you are back, looks like you had fun. We loved the Grand Canyon too. We are leaving today for vacation. See you when we get back. Can’t wait to hear all about your vacation. xoxo

  11. I’m glad you are back! The Grand Canyon is one place hubs and I want to go to one day. As far as the heat – it’s awful. We’re fine here now, but it’s Seatle suffering with 100+ temps. Who knew.

  12. Oh gosh, I see you went to Zion and Bryce, we went there a few years ago and I loved it! The scenery is breathtaking, well, hiking almost to the top of Angel’s Landing in Zion was pretty danged scary too. Wow, 115 though, it only got up to about 95 when we were there.

  13. Welcome back!

    The trip looks beautiful.

I think you have to click to read my blog…it’s okay if you skip, I’ve only posted a few small posts while you were away.

I, too, had a blog meet up–the first one for me. It was wonderful! I hope one day you will be on my list for blog-meets.

    XO,
    Jill

  14. Good to have you home again! Your photos are wonderful, the scenery is just breathtaking. As usual it’s grey and damp here so it’s just so hard to imagine anywhere in the world being as hot as that!

  15. I’m glad you’re back Anna, it looks like a fun trip besides the heat! I’m sorry to say though, you missed the quilt giveaway on my blog :(. (I thought about entering your name for you, but then I thought, what if she doesn’t like it and WINS???)

  16. Welcome home!! Whew, that is hot, and it’s been such a cool summer here it must have felt extra steamy. Looks like great fun and gorgeous scenery though!!

  17. Glad you had such a good trip – the scenery looks wonderful, not at all what comes to my mind when I think of Las Vegas! I have a friend who has been two or three times and loves and I always wondered why – she certainly isn’t a gambler. Now I begin to see its attraction. Rather you than me in those temps though!

  18. Welcome back Anna. Beautiful photos. It is really pretty everywhere you’ve been. I’ve been to all of those places on family vacations back in the day but I’m sure I didnt enjoy them as much as I would now. I’m much more mature now. lol

  19. YAY!!! She’s back! I used to live in Las Vegas and I do not miss it…not one bit, LOL!

    Love that frozen T-shirt game!

That’s too bad about Bryce canyon. You got some nice photos anyway! :)

  20. And I do believe this was a mild year. The year we headed to Bryce and Zion it was ranging about 110º.
    Gosh, I missed you.

  21. Welcome back!!!! And thanks for the photos of the lovely sights you saw. I’m still working on the geezer for a holiday to the US, but he’s baulking at the long plane trip. I’ll have to make do with your photos for now. :-)

  22. Welcome back. I’d like to point out that if you came to Scotland again, you wouldn’t have to bother with all that getting-too-hot nonsense. And the cats would be delighted to see you and your knitting!

  23. Welcome home! Your photos are wonderful! We flew over Las Vegas when we were in the States last year, wish we had time to stop in! *smile*.

  24. welcome home :-). Some amazing pics , love the big arch. I’m so jealous you went to Vegas, we got married there ( well, just outside of really ) and we’d love to go back.

  25. Oh, wow, it looks like you had such a good time! Welcome home. You must need a vacation to recover from your vacation. ;)

  26. Welcome back! Love the pictures and so hope that I make it to the Grand Canyon some day. Thanks for coming by and seeing my mushrooms – my kids all think I am silly, but hey, you get your amusement where you can find it.

  27. I am glad you are back! Missed the posts. Glad you had a good time! The SW is soooo hot and it doesn’t matter how dry the heat is, its still hot. We lived in the Albuquerque for a while and really missed the midwest.

  28. So glad your back, Anna. I missed you. The southwest is beautiful, isn’t it? Very hot this time of year, though. My parents used to have a winter home in St. George, UT. We traveled to visit them and then on to the South Rim in March one year. We got SNOWED on! Oh, well. It was still beautiful.

    Take care,
    Cassie

Oh, and I agree. Zion is delicious, for sure.

  29. Welcome back and thank you for sharing your beautiful vacation photos. I’m so glad you had such a great time, we did on our trip, too. So many amazing things to see and do.

  30. Sounds like a great holiday. We did something similar when we lived in the States… about 22 years ago! Have a similar photo of us under that arch!

  31. Awesome pictures!!! One of these days I’ll be comment #1 instead of way down here (lol).

Glad you’re back and how fun to meet a fellow blogger. I’ve met two and maybe some day three.

  32. It’s w/ such a full heart that I thank you w/ a big whoop and holler for reminding me of one of my greatest memories! My family is going through quite a tough time right now, but your trip reminded me of our serendipitous hike through the narrows when I was a child. We were in Zion and had never heard of it but came across the trail head and a ranger that said it would be closed because of flash flood warnings w/ in the next 24 hours– he said, “Hike while the hikin’ is good.” So we did– at times hiking through water that was chest deep (it was springtime). It is one of my fondest childhood memories and I really needed that flashback today. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

  33. I’m soooooo glad you had a wonderful vacation! Your photos are wonderful. I have always wanted to visit Zion National Park, and you’ve made me want to see it even more! I’m glad you had frozen t-shirts to cool everyone down! I wouldn’t think that game would ever get old – it’s just too funny.
Oh, I couldn’t comment on your 1st quilt post. I wanted to say that I am hanging up my quilter’s hat, because my first quilt didn’t look anything like yours! It looked like a 1st quilt should – crappy! LOL That quilt is beautiful – and hand quilted?? You are my hero, Anna!
Love the quilt from Toni, too. It’s happy and bright, and makes me smile.

  34. What fantastic photos! The grand canyon is on my list of places i would love to visit – well the whole of America is really! I think I would need years to see everything your country has to offer!

  35. GASPING over your photos and reading about your trip. NO WONDER you’re on vacation let down. Heck, I’M NOW ON you vacation let down. I so badly want to visit the places you went, and just the other night I mentioned wanting to do a UT/AZ/NV/NM roadtripapalooza. I think you need to do this again, but next time with your SW’s and their families! Oh, and maybe in the spring. I’m delicate – the heat is not my friend.

  36. I loved your post but wished I were the Kim mentioned in your blog. I’m still in the thick of kids/grandkids home visiting.

The quilt show is up at the Springville Art Museum and I did a trunk show with my girlfriend there today. It was fun.

Of course, I loaded up my girlfriend’s car this morning with the quilts, etc. we needed for our trunk show, then I hiked up to the Y this morning with the grandkids, then rushed home to get my clothes so I could shower in my daughter’s hotel room (Candice is teaching at the Provo Marriot and our water heater is broken and being replaced today so no water.), then it was off to the trunkshow, a quick tour of the quilt show, home for dinner, and now I’m off to the grocery store. No wonder I hardly ever blog. Life is too crazy.

Tomorrow we are off to Lagoon. The adventures continue… Miss you!
