…of a White Christmas and it’s looking pretty iffy out there. We finally have snow, but we’re expecting a little warm-up on the weekend. Fingers crossed that it won’t all melt! I loooove snow and we got a nice little storm over the weekend. According to the weatherman, we got 7″. It’s so pretty out the back window.
Well, how’s your holiday prep coming along??? We’re in the single digits now — only 9 more days until Christmas! I finally have a little decorating, a lot of shopping, and a little wrapping done. It’s a mess, really. Super Secret Sewing took several weekends but that’s been conquered now — Yay! And yesterday was the annual gingerbread baking day. I learned a few years ago that the gingerbread needs to be made earlier than the day before the competition to allow the gingerbread to dry out a little. That seems to help with all the cave-ins. (Btw, here’s the link to our recipe — you still have time if you’d like to do your own gingerbread houses this year.)
So, not much to show, but there has been a LOT of work going on around here — around your house too, I’m betting. And, I’m thinking, if you’re getting tired, you should treat yourself to a little surprise! ;-D I’ve put a few Moda precuts into my little shop just in case you decide to treat yourself.
(L to R: Printemps by 3 Sisters, April Showers by Bonnie and Camille, Color Me Happy by V and Co and Le Bouquet Francais by French General)
I also have some charm packs of April Showers listed just in case you need a last minute gift for a quilty friend or two. Or (it goes without saying) YOU. Did you buy yourself a gift yet this year? I haven’t bought mine yet, but it’s almost certain to be fabric LOL.
Okey Doke. Must run. Still a little secret knitting that needs to happen. Good Luck with the next week — Be Good to Yourself!!!
XOXO,
Anna
The snow does look beautiful! I hope you get a white Christmas!
Beautiful snow! Hope it stays!
No snow here – and I hope it stays like that for the rest of the week, as I have two parties to go to!! Just a little bit of secret sewing to finish. The cake has been fed with brandy and is ready to ice – if only you could come for a piece!!
Oh Anna your snow looks gorgeous! I wish we had some – or rather, I wish we could get some once we’ve got to my Mum and Dad’s next Monday – then it can snow all it likes, but I don’t think it will! I’ve never made gingerbread for building houses – do you have a favourite recipe?
Your back garden is so pretty with all that snow!
our snow and ice doesn’t normally stick around for long but here we are 2 weeks later and still have some on the ground and roof – won’t stick around for long now – we finally popped back to the 50’s – such a long cold spell isn’t normal for us – I am used to not having a white Christmas
Awe, doesn’t that snow look pretty. I’ve got 2 living with me now that grumble about it. I ask them why they don’t like it and tell them…they don’t have to go out in it if they don’t want to…they don’t have to shovel it at ALL and they can just sit and enjoy it. I think it’s fallen on deaf ears…grrr. I just put a smile on my face and sing…let it snow, let it snow, let it snow as I walk away. lol
I can’t wait to see what you all come up with in your gingerbread houses this year.
the snow is so pretty! Just started here in CT and I feel like I’m in a snow globe :)
can’t wait to see the gingerbread houses. I can’t believe you cut your own. Wow!
I have molds. I haven’t made them in a while, maybe next year.
merry merry
No snow for us this year. We are enjoying +10oC and rainy, dull grey days!
Looking forward to seeing your gingerbread house!
Can’t wait to see all the goodies you’ve been secretly making. It’s another no school snow day today, and personally I can’t wait for all this stuff to melt – I’m dreaming of a green Christmas – either that or Santa had better bring me a snow blower! Ha!
I love LOOKING at snow, too! Yours looks very pretty.
OOch…only 9 more days? I’M IN TROUBLE. I am thinking I just might not get that pair of men’s socks done that I’m starting today. I am tired and I haven’t even started to shop yet. I can’t wait to see all you’ve been doing.
The perfect post – snow, gingerbread and fabric!! Can’t wait to see the gingerbread competition photos, always a highlight for me on your blog at this time of year!
You got your wish for snow! Looks pretty. It’s been warm-ish here but we’re expecting a little cold blast again and maybe some snow. Keep those elvish fingers busy. I’ve got a few more things to do too.
Hope you will share the houses this year. :)
We are frantically getting ready over here too. Most of the shopping and wrapping is done. My sewing is also finished. Need to load up a post about it.
Yay ! You finally got some snow! Ours is all gone now and we are supposed to get 3-4 ” of rain this weekend. What’s up with that anyway?!!
I’m looking forward to your gingerbread house post. One of the grandsons showed some interest in making one. I just might be brave enough to try something simple when the three older ones(3,4 &5) are here next week. Maybe…..
Have a wonderful week!
Yes, very pretty but please keep your snow on your side of the pond. Our street wasn’t built for snow (you’ll remember it) and we can’t use the car till everything melts. Also the cats DO NOT APPROVE. Thankfully, we have sunshine and not too much chilliness at present.
Have a good pre-Christmas week!
Wow, the snow is beautiful and you are at home cleaning, sewing, and baking up goodies and surprises for holiday presents. It sounds like a wonderful life!
There has been an elf in my sewing studio making quilts, aprons, and pot holders. This elf also needs to complete 3 stockings for my newly married daughter, her hubby, and their cute doggie named Ollie. My grandson (11 years old) has requested a Christmas tree skirt for the tree in his room and it absolutely has to be embroidered with Duke University on the front of it because Jackson thinks that Gee (that’s me) and fix anything. Life is so good! Many blessings to you and your family and thanks for your inspiring photos.
