Photo Scavenger Hunt: February 2012

It’s been way too long since I participated in the Photo Scavenger Hunt hosted by Kathy and I’ve missed it!  I love a good scavenger hunt and this one is always fun.  So, here’s my shot at the photos for February:

Five.  Messing around with Instagram at my desk at work.  (‘Cause you know, we’re not allowed to have cameras at work.)

Scavenger Hunt

Music.  One of my favorite children’s songs.  (Give Said the Little Stream.)

Scavenger Hunt

A Train.  By Lionel.

Scavenger Hunt

Love.  My first true love — my little 12-year old heart is broken tonight.  Davy and I spent a lot of time dreaming together.   You probably didn’t know this, but we were to marry.

Scavenger Hunt

Cupid.  This one was tough.  Cupids aren’t just anywhere you know.

Scavenger Hunt

Food.  Looks like I need more color in my fruit bowl.

Scavenger Hunt

Empty.   My sewing room candy bowl.

Scavenger Hunt

In The Sky.  Naked trees — we’re still almost two months from leafing out.  Hard to believe on an unbelievably warm 65 degree day.

Scavenger Hunt

Crowded.  The evergreens are choking out our sidewalk.  Something needs to be done.

Scavenger Hunt

Heritage.  The people on the bottom row are my great-great-great-great grandparents.  I wish I had more of those boxes filled in.  My paternal grandfather belongs in the “child” box.

Scavenger Hunt

Black and White.  Kitties of course.  Enjoying a promise of spring to come.

Scavenger Hunt

Leap Year.  Another tough one.  I copped out and wrote the formula for determining if this is a leap year.

Scavenger Hunt

That’s it for February. Hopefully I will be able to be a little more consistent with this challenge this year.
XOXO,
Anna

  1. Sigh, we would have been neighbors. Micky was my main man. My condolences. (And great pics! I have the pattern for the turtle pin cushion. When there’s time…)

  2. Ah, my little 11-year old heart is broken tonight, too. Davy was my first crush and forged my love for British accents. He will be missed.

When I saw in the paper he was coming to town, (I live north of you – in DeKalb Co.), I thought about getting tickets.

  3. I’m sorry for you that Davey didn’t make it a little longer so you could marry. I’m still holding out for Bobby Sherman. (Is he still alive?) I think so.

  4. I like your scavenger hunt photos! So sad about Davey Jones– he was such a cutie. I remember watching Monkees reruns as a kid. And I loved him on that episode of The Brady Bunch.

  5. Micky was my first crush too Anna! I’m pretty sure we were still watching black and white TV back then, in the sixties…

    Great series of pictures!

  6. Great photos Anna, I think the train is my favorite. I had that shrub problem with our driveway last year, I felt like I was in a biggest loser challenge trying to tame those things ~~ two words electric chainsaw….. I love mine

  7. I think I need to join that wife’s club too. I watched the show on Monday evenings at 8 PM – the only time I was allowed to stay up past my bedtime. Can you imagine, a 12 year old having a bedtime of 8:00? Here’s another tidbit – my husband used to write for Billboard Magazine and he has interviewed Mickey Dolenz a couple of times.

  8. Add me to the harem. Davy and I were going to live quite happily ever after. Sighhhhhhh.

  9. Ah Davy….was there ever anyone else? Women all over the world are mourning. Love Give said the Little Stream….and your have 65 degree weater? I’ll trade you; it’s 30 here today with snow and more on the way.

  10. I enjoyed your photos till I got to the leap year one and then I was confused. “If year mod 9 is 0”???? Please translate.

I love your kitty rug, though!

  11. Give Said the Little Stream is also my dad’s favourite and so almost every Monday night he would pick or enccourage one of the kids to pick his song. When I married I had no idea that Give Said the Little Stream was also my husband’s favourite so I am still singing it A LOT on Monday night!! Nice connection. By the eay I made it through Daniel Deronda, fun to see Mr Downton Abbey in another role. I just finished the BBC’s Sherlock Holmes- man am I disappointed it only had three episodes- so good.

  12. Great shots! Davy Jones was my first crush, too. Well, that was until I hit 5’8″ and realized he wasn’t going to grow any taller. My affections then turned to Michael Nesmith. What a fickle thing I was!

  13. Anna, I hate to break your heart but Davy Jones was my first love and he was definitely going to marry me when I grew up.

  14. Henri Cartier Brisson coined or was it someone else regarding his photographs “the decisive moment”. Ya know, for the sky you could have waited a tad longer in the cold and shot a photo of a UFO. Heck with the Mayan calendar coming to a close, you would think they would be around to check us out. Just sayin’! Nice shots, I could almost, if I looked really really hard, see a UFO by your tree! ;o)

  15. I did not know there was a formula for Leap Year. And I can’t understand it! I tried to get a Leap Day picture for the 112 in 2012, but … they are pretty lame. :(
