Pink Shirt

Some of you may remember way back in the fall of 2011, I finished these pink socks and posted them with a picture of pink flowers in hopes that I would make a pink flower shirt the following spring.

Well, better late than never, as they say.  Luckily, I haven’t worn the pink socks out yet and I can now happily wear them with my new pink shirt.

Thimbleanna: Pink Shirt

I used my favorite shirt pattern and Sarah Jane’s Meadow print from her Children at Play line.  I’ve been hoarding some of this fabric — I just love those cute little pink flowers.

I’ve only used this pattern with corduroy before, so the fit seems a little looser with cotton.  I’m sure it will soften up with wear though, just like the corduroy shirts.

I love that little pleat in the back.  Someday I’m going to make a version of this shirt and put a little tag back there.  I also love MeMum’s clothesline.  I could take pictures of those pretty green wires and the weathered clothespins all day long.  Sorry for the distraction!

Happy Hump Day!

  1. i remember that post! and i remember thinking that i wouldn’t mind having a pretty blouse with pink flowers, but that would never happen in This Lifetime cuz my clothes-sewing days were over thirty years ago when my oldest daughter was six and decided that she didn’t want to wear anything that wasn’t bought in a store … sigh … anywho, i love your shirt/blouse and the clothespins that are holding it on the line … they look like my mom’s clothespins – she must have used them for fifty years before my brothers convinced her to stop hanging her clothes on the rope umbrella clothesline and use an electric dryer instead…

  2. That is such a pretty shirt!! I bet you get compliments when you wear it. Beautiful photos too.

  3. I was admiring the clothesline and pins too – I love old clothespins. I remember planing drop the clothespin in the milk bottle at birthday parties as a kid.
Your shirt is lovely. You do beautiful work. This almost make me want to try a shirt –
I bought a pattern years ago and never did it – doh!

  4. I love those socks – I don’t sew clothes – I can never figure out how to do neat buttonholes and believe me I have tried to learn. They go with the socks perfectly!

  5. I wish I had a clothesline. I would hang my sheets out if I did. Your shirt is adorable! And I love those sockies. Every time you post a photo of a pair I want to try making some. So I think I will add them to my winter to do list. :o)

  6. LOVE love love your blouse and your knitted socks and memum’s clothesline.
please throw on a pair of jean shorts with it and some sandals and then send us photo evidence. currently, most of us are convinced that you just went and photographed some other random person’s flowered blouse hanging on a clothesline.
    off to save the world.
    :waves madly

  7. Very pretty shirt. I wish I had the same passion for clotheslines. Makes for fun picture taking but not clothes drying. Nope. Not here. Give me an electric dryer any day. :)

  8. The shirt is beautiful. The socks are cool – or more likely warm! I have a clothesline like that although mine is blue but my pegs are plastic. :o)

  9. Hi Anna…your fabric choice is lovely and right up my alley :) As always, you do nice work. I’m going to endeavor to make myself a dress between now and Friday for a wedding (on Friday!) It’s a time problem, as usual. I’ll keep you posted.

  10. I have to admit, I wasn’t too hot for the fabric when it was just fabric. But it makes a super-cute shirt!
