Grandma Hill's Browned Butter Cookies
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
2/3 cup chopped walnuts
Cream butter and brown sugar. Add eggs to creamed mixture. Sift soda, baking powder, flour and salt together.
Add dry ingredients to butter mixture alternately with sour cream. Add vanilla and nuts. Drop on cookie sheet
and bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Frost.
Frosting:
1/4 cup butter
2 cups confectioners’ sugar
2 or 3 tablepoons boiling water
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Melt butter in saucepan – boil until nut brown. Pour over sugar and beat. Add water and vanilla. Should be nice spreading
consistency.
