Six on Saturday

1.  Well, Hey Ho!  Another week has whizzed by!  I didn’t get a whole lot done, but I’ve been making lists and preparing.  Does that count?  The next two weekends will see baby showers for FinallyAGirl and this Grandma has got to get her rear in gear.  I have lots of plans.  I’ve been pre-shrinking fabric and now I’m ready to get some sewing done.  Here’s proof — the piles of fabric all ready to go!

2.  Have you guys seen the Rowdy Flat Library Quilt?  {SWOON!} It’s a new pattern by Susan Smith and it looks like it’s going to be gorgeous!  I first saw it on Nicolette’s and Emily’s blogs and it’s going to be so fun to watch their progress.  I loved making The Aunts’ Quilt and I’d love to start another applique quilt.  I’m SO tempted to jump in (because hello.  BEES!) but I think it’s going to have to wait for awhile — waaayyyy too much to do in the near future.  {And it’s all wonderful!}  (Here’s a picture I found on pinterest.)

3.  Anyone have the spring cleaning bug???  Nah, me neither.  Haha.  Just kidding.   This place is a sty and I really need to get some cleaning done.  Maybe after the baby showers.  Just a little cleaning though — we don’t want to hurt ourselves or anything.  If you can get past the sales pitch, I found a little kitchen spring cleaning list here.  Maybe that would be a good place for me to start.

4.  PSA:  It’s time for the annual Vera Bradley Outlet sale in our little hometown.  Anyone out there coming to visit during the big event?  I”ll probably zip by, even though I don’t need a darn thing.  If you’re a knitter, don’t miss our great little yarn shops, Simply Socks and Knitting Off Broadway.  If you’re a quilter, you’re SOL.  But, we do live fairly close to Shipshewana, so you could swing by Yoders and Lollys on your way back home.  ;-D

5.  Lots of new Liberty fabrics in my little shop this month.  There are a few more from the Children’s collection that aren’t in the picture below because I haven’t added them to the shop yet.  I’ll be cutting into some of those pinks soon though.  Because, you know.  FinallyAGirl.

6.  Longtime readers know of my love for the humble Rice Krispy Cookie.  There’s a new batch in the kitchen just waiting for my marathon sewing this weekend.  Don’t those fabrics make them look pretty???

That’s It! I’m Outta Here! Cookies and Fabric are waiting. Have a great weekend!

XOXO,
Anna

  4. Looks like lots of fun and work ahead, but thankfully….rice crispy treats! Your baby grandgirl is going to love all the goodies you’re stitchin’ up.

  5. Oh my gosh, I’d love to come to the VB sale. I’m a huge fan. I would really like a new Hipster bag. I just got one for my birthday last fall but I would love to have another one for summer. Maybe someday I’ll try to plan a trip for the sale. That would be so fun. I hope you have a wonderful time with the baby showers. I love that you’re making so much effort to welcome the baby girl and give her mom special experiences too. She will always remember what you’re doing for her and her baby. Enjoy making that quilt, it’s just beautiful. I hope you’re having a good weekend.

  6. Just love the sweet piles of girly fabric. Happy sewing and rice krispie treating. Oh and that appliqué BEE quilt is simply gorgeous and amazing.

  9. Oh that BOM!! But no, I am so far behind on my list it makes my head spin. I have started a cute little skirt from the pink gingham gauze…its so sweet. Going to put batiste under it and add a white eyelet ruffle!
Can’t what to see what you get done this weekend. Baby showers are always so much fun and full of oohs and awws!
Next Sunday I am going to be at a wedding shower for our first granddaughter to get married. I am big fat failure, no handmade gift…sigh. But maybe for one of the other 2 showers I will get aprons made…lol.

  10. I need that bee quilt. I wish someone else would make it for me. I have zero time. I absolutely love the pink 7th from the top bolt. Love Liberty!

  11. Love the fabrics, and I am looking forward to seeing what you make with them! We’re in Berwick and have just had muffins for breakfast, which reminded me of our breakfast here with you last year!!!!!!!

  12. What’s SOL?

That all looks lovely, well, apart from the spring cleaning ideas. I was just thinking: when I was working, I used to wash curtains, clean the tops of kitchen cabinets, etc, in the Easter holidays. Now, when there’s no particular time better than any other, my activities in this area seem to have slowed down. Funny that… I’m just off to do a bit of patchworking… . I shall blame you, Anna.

  13. Oooo, I love little girl (big girl too) sewing, knitting, crocheting and anything else you can think of!!! Right now I am sewing the Meghan Peasant Dress by Jennifer Paganelli out of one of her scrumptuous fabrics for Frannie (it has all my favorite colors, aqua, pinks, yellows and greens). Next up, it’s going to be Dottie Angel’s Frock. Haven’t decided on the fabric yet, but it has great pockets. It’s going to have to get a lot warmer before Frannie can wear them though. Any hot air coming our way?

  14. i didnt think ANYONE local actually went to the vera bradley sale.
my sisters works the sale…so….i have picked up a few things here and there
but ive never gone. i like to keep it that way.
have fun planning, staging, celebrating FinallyaGirl!!!!!

  15. i feel your pain on the spring cleaning thing….i’ve started a list. furniture needs to be moved to get to those hard to reach places…baseboards, kitchen cabinets, closets, well you get it. ;p that bee quilt looks AWESOME!!! did you see the bee fabric Fatquarter shop got in??? AWESOME! ;p

  16. On my first read through, I thought you said you were “practicing shrinking” fabrics, (not pre shrinking) and I was wondering what sort of grandma skill that was!! Good luck with your spring cleaning. I would never have thought to clean out the garbage disposal!

  17. You had me at Rice Krispie Treats I do love them!
What fun you’ll be having at those baby showers.
Spring Cleaning, oh yes, it is really needed around here too!!
    xo

  18. PLEASE make that bee quilt! I would love to see your version. It will be another amazing quilt by Anna. I read your cleaning list – and then thought… Nah. So I’m going back to finishing the last 3 of the 6 vinyl project bags I’m making from your tutorial. I love them to pieces but get kind of confused at the part of sewing the vinyl piece to the zipper portion. Makes me hyperventilate. But that’s just me. I can make a mountain out of a mole hill.
