- Snow! We got snow!!! I love it! It brought my new boyfriend along with it too. Someone at work was selling a snowblower, so after 25 years, we finally broke down and bought one. I’m in Luuuuv. I might miss shoveling a little, but not when we get a lot of snow. This was a nice comfy amount — 5 or 6 inches I think.
- Periwinkle mentioned an interesting photo challenge. I think it would be fun to participate, although I’m not sure I could get some of the shots. Anyone else going to participate? Perhaps the local peeps could tell me where I could get a shot of a 100 year old tombstone?
- If you’ve been here awhile, you know how much I love my little cupcake stands. They are a little pricey though, so if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, Tomkat Studio posted about an easy way to make some of your own.
- Last weekend we went to see The King’s Speech. LOVED. IT.
- As has become our custom, the gingerbread houses have been placed outside for the squirrels. Probably not a good idea to actually attract the squirrels, but I can’t bear to throw them away.
- A few weeks ago, when I posted that I had a Pips Fat Quarter Pack to sell, several of you were interested. A friend has contacted me to let me know that she has one to sell — if you’re interested, please e-mail me (anna@thimbleanna.com) and I’ll put you two in contact.
- There has actually been a little post-Christmas sewing around here. Here’s a sneaky peek.
- Eye Candy Alert! New episodes of White Collar start next Tuesday. You’re Welcome. ;-)
- And finally, but MOST important, Corrie has been posting lots of ways to help the Australian flood victims in several of her posts over the last week. Even just a quilt block will help!
XOXO,
Anna
Sunkissed! I am trying to decide if I want to use my jelly roll for the post stamp quilt Raechel is doing. When are you showing off yours?
Stinkin’ cute snowman…or would that be snow-princess
definitely thinking lindenwood cemetery.
i think the center section is where the oldest tombstones are…my dad and i used to ride our bikes around there…some gorgeous tombstones…i think there is some recognizable name ganster in there…and i remember a dice tombstone…would be pretty in all this snow!
5-6 inches – that’s about what we have STILL on the ground here in Huntsville. But, we’re glad any new snow came to you!
That looks like a quilt in progress. The colors are looking spring-like. Yay!
No fair! I want snow! (as I stomp my feet and throw a hissy) LOL ;o) Oh! And your banner. I’m sure I’m late to the change. But I LOVE it.
OOOHHHH…I’m intrigued by the photo scavenger hunt, might have to take part. Come to visit and I can take you to MULTIPLE 100 year old tombstones. And quite a few abandoned buildings. The joys of living in a rural town!
Look at that cute, adorable little snowman. Can’t wait to see what you are sewing. That looks cute.
That is the cutest little snowman I’ve ever seen! And yay for mechanical help with snow removal. At least I guess it would be a good thing. That’s not a problem we have here. LOL
omg that little snowman on the cupcake stand is so cute I cant stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh how lovely that your feeding the squirrels. I always thought they were a problem with people in the USA. I guess we dont have them here so they are a bit of a novelty. How nice for you to have snow!
I love the wee snowman – too cute! I’m off to see The Kings Speech this afternoon (after knitting group) – forecast is pouring rain so what better way to pass the afternoon!
The trees look so wonderful in the snow and I love that the houses look like a Santa village for the squirrels. Thanks for the critique on the Kings Speech, I’ve heard great things about it so I’ll make a point of seeing it.
Yeah snow …. you have to take part especially now you’ve had a heads up to the tombstone ? We live quite near a cemetery so that was quite an easy one for me . Oh and I love the Ghastlies in the last post .
we have mounds & mounds of once white snow since the christmas blizzard!
i *heart* your snowman on his cupcake stand…
i *heart* my stands & i thank you for that…i love the perfect
cupcake (or mini tart) presentation!
i *heart* the kings speech as well!
thanks for the sneak peek…looks very exciting!
Enjoy your new snowblower! Wished we had one too!
Looove your little snowman! So cute! Look forward to see what you have made! :-)
hooray for snow!
love your little snowman –
I’m going to the Kings Speech in about an hour, looking forward to it.
We do the same thing with the GBH – the animals love it and it’s so fun to watch.
That little snowman is too cute!
Watch out world! Anna behind a snowblower! That photo scavenger hunt sounds intriguing….You’re spoiling those squirrels. The gingerbread houses might be tempting for them to set up house in, if they can hold off on the nibbling….
I love the idea of putting your gingerbread houses out for the critters and that scavenger hunt challenge is very enticing!
I’m so glad you finally got some snow ….. we’ve had horrible wind and rain all day!
Well, our snow is now mainly a memory (apart from the remnants of some huge heaps) but after the first ooh-aah hours, I didn’t love it at all.
And I don’t want any more, so don’t blow it all over here, thanks!
Awww….you had to go and make that adorable little snowman, and display him on that sweet little cupcake stand. He’s so cute that I couldn’t stop myself from having some fond thoughts about SNOW. I didn’t think that was even possible. lol
I spy some sunkissed fabric…can’t wait to see what you’re up too with that! I can’t wait for White Collar, either…do you think Mozzie survived…I am sure hoping he did!!! My son says no…but I’m holding out hope!
Loved those little cupcake stands.. may make some myself!!! Went and saw the Kings Message as well..great film.
Rainbow smiles :]
Gloria
Do I spy a little yellow ribbon tucked in there with the sunkissed? Love that. Can’t wait to see the rest.
Please send me some snow ;)
What a darling little snowman. The squirrels need to eat too!
I love the scavenger hunt idea – might have to look out for the February one!
xxx
That little snowman is too cute. As for the gingerbread houses…it’s no wonder the squirrels tear up your deck furniture. They’re sugar drunk. Hyper. Out of control. Full of excess energy fueled by stale gingerbread and hard royal icing. I’m sure they look forward to the gingerbread festival every year. It’s kinda like rodent mardi gras. “Hey, Anna, throw me something.” LOL!
The snow looks beautiful and I’m laughing at the comment above. LOL Nothing like giving those squirrels a sugar high! Can’t wait to see a full view of your gorgeous quilt!
Well hellooooooo snoooooiwww!
Love your mini snow princess.
YOUR new boyfriend is a snow blower.
Mine is Neil Caffrey.
You can keep the snow – I’m so over it by now and I’m so looking forward to Spring, However, I love the little snowman (or is it a snow princess?) on those stinkin cute cupcake stands.
I bought those same cupcake stands for Candice. I wish I had some too. They are great. Of course, hers didn’t have a cute little snow man even though we have plenty of the white stuff.
Just got back from a quilt retreat in St. George with 6 friends. So much fun. I vowed to not buy any new fabric but there were so many great sales, I couldn’t resist. (I found some adorable Halloween fabric 75% off so made pillow cases for those grand babies. I think I have enough new fabric to make at lest 4 more quilts…what was I thinking?
I did come close to finishing 1 quilt top. I’m going to get it done soon. Of course it depends on your definition of soon, I cut it out four year ago…hee hee.
Loved your Ghastlies quilts!
The ghastlies are cute – now wouldn’t they just hate to hear me call them cute!
I have a tombstone in my flower bed that is way over 100 years old, so that would solve to pictures, the tombstone and something out of place. Come on to SC and you cn grab the picture.
You may wonder why I have the tombstone – well its my husbands great grandfather’s stone and a few years back they replaced it with a military stone and he brought the old one home. And that’s the rest of the story.
Fun list, cannot wait for white collar!! I keep hear great things about kings speech and love your snowman!!! Clarice
So what is a snow blower? Or is it exactly as it sounds – a machine that blows the snow to one side? I guess that’s what it is! There, that wasn’t too hard – even for me :o) Lucy x
I love your pretty snowscene and can imagine the fun you’re having with that blower!
Those cupcake stands are darling! And so is that little snow man with the divine scarf. Your post-Christmas sewing looks scrumptious!
Five or six inches in nice. More than that is YUK! Our snow has now melted and turned to ICE.
Ice = YUK!
Have fun with that new Boy Toy!
jody
Ya know? Everyone is getting snow except those that are suppose too! You know, the ones that live way way up North! Geeez! Every storm has by passed up! I think the Heat Miser is obtaining our territory!
Love the snow!!! I want more, ours is melting away. Lucky lucky birdies you have over there. They probably look forward to the week after Christmas each year. I bet it you look you’ll see them peeking in your window. :-)
That is the cutest snowperson ever!!! Lovely photos!! Great idea with the gingerbread houses!
hehe…you always want what you don’t have: i wanna have snow :).
i think it’s great that you put your cute (oops, the c-word) gingerbread houses to a good use! and you maybe could gently remind the squirrels to leave after they’ve had their dinner!
can’t wait to see what you’ve done with sunkissed…
xoxo, julia
Love the new banner. I always look forward to seeing how you stage those darling thimbles. You’re such a good photographer. I can’t wait to see the King’s Speech.
I love White Collar!! Thanks for the notice!!
I went to TomKat and love the cupcake stands. How cute for Valentine’s Day. I’d like to make them in assorted sizes to group together for a centerpiece.
Love your little snowman. Is he a upcake?
Love the links, ma’am, thank you. We have had about 20 inches of snow here in the past 30 days… all shovel. It’s a love hate thing… love the exercise/hate the resulting backache.
Here I am, shivering in Florida and thinking the weather is awful on this side of the U.S., when you have actual snow. Brrrr! I shall be quiet about my shivering here now. The new snowblower ought to save you hours of time and prevent an aching back. I’m going to explore the links you provided–you have lots of news to share today.
We have more snow coming this weekend on top of the 20+ inches we have already! I want to see The King’s Speech too. I need to organize a ‘date night’ with my husband.
I love that you share the gingerbread houses with the squirrels. I bet they are fat and happy now! I wonder if they let the Snow Queen in on the fun?
Have a super day, Anna. Mine will be “divine”. :)
PS- I sent you an e-mail.
ooohhh, can’t wait if you can come up with the goods in the photo challenge..
Hugs – Jodie :)
So, you’ve added such another wonderful item to my “wish” list. Who would have known that I need a cupcake stand? It will go with the cupcake decorating kit I bought last year….that I’m sure I’ll use…one of these days:) I need to develop your “follow though” skills it looks like.
I understand why you love your new boyfriend (LOL)
That is the cutest little cupcake snowman king ever!!
