Thanks for all your happy wishes for our moving weekend. The newlyweds are all settled into their cute new apartment. They’ve managed to accumulate quite a bit during their first year, so there was plenty of work for all of the volunteer movers. We had a great time though — many hands make light work.
I packed a picnic lunch for all of us. I even tucked my panini grill into my picnic basket because I knew their kitchen goods would still be packed. We worked right through lunch and didn’t manage to eat our sandwiches until dinner time. Hunger made them taste pretty darn good though! We also had chips (have you tried Lays Kettle Cooked Salt and Cracked Pepper chips yet? (I tried to find a picture for you, but they’re not even on their website yet) — they’re my new addiction!), pasta salad, grapes, bananas, and cookies. I made two kinds of cookies — oatmeal raisin and these lemon cookies.
(Hello Moda Butter Polka Dots and Happy Zombie!) The lemon cookies were really good, but it was a very humid, rainy day, so they got a bit sticky. They’re also a heavy cake-like cookie — very dense because of the ricotta cheese in them. Very lemony and yummy though.
So, now, on to a new week. We’re finally promised some pretty weather — unbelievably, we had frost last night. I’ll be spending my week making plans for the upcoming 4-day weekend — yipee. I hope you have a good week planned too!
XOXO,
Anna
I can’t believed you managed to move and cook and and eat all in the one weekend! I’m lucky if I get one of those done :-) You’re a clever cookie- lol! Ah, I love tacky puns. Any-waay… well done on the move- I’m very excited for you!!
I forgot to put ‘bake’ in the middle of my two ands. Oops!
lemon cookies?
be still my heart.
i KNEW i had a crush on you!!!!
Sounds like a busy but successful weekend! But those photos of the lemon cookies are just beautiful! Lucy x
I can’t believe you found time to bake too! Those cookies sound amazing!
Ooooh, your cookies look SO yummy … and so pretty on that spotty fabric :o).
Hugs,
Joy :o)
YUMMY! YUMMY! YUMMY! I’m on my way!
You are a fabulous MIL it sounds like!!!! Helping to move and making lemon cookies and a picnic lunch. Amazing!
Those lemon cookies look delish, by the way! :)
My husband has a saying about cookies, he likes only two kinds, round ones and the non-round ones. ;D
Hugs!
Glad you had a great moving weekend!! Yes, I have had those chips and they ARE terrific! Those cookies look fabulous, but where is the recipe???? I think I may need to make them. Clicked on your recipe tab and they are not there, oh dear.
moda butter yellow polka dots…*swoon*
the cookies look SO yummy.
sounds like yall had one busy weekend.
Amazing with the moving you made a meal involving a panini press and then the cookies. I thought you were going to say you whipped up some yellow polka dot napkings to make it complete. Ha, you and only you could have pulled that off. And my DH would love those cookies tonight if I let him see this–loves lemon! Hey, when I move can I get you to volunteer?!!
That sounds like a great lunch! Much better than some peanut butter and jelly sandwiches tossed in a bag! ;)
Those cookies look so good! I love the lemony yellow photos!
Oh my goodness – those lemon cookies look so delicious – I’m off to check out the recipe right now! x
Anna you are killing me here!! I LOVE(yes, I shouted that word) lemon cookies. I will have to print out that recipe and hold it until I’ve lost my weight. I’m trying so hard to be good since the doctor wasn’t so nice the last time I was in. They seem to take those cholesterol/triglyceride numbers so seriously :-( Anyway, aren’t you just loving this weather we’re having!! I’m so tired of all the rain. Enjoy your long weekend!!
Those looks yummy Anna. I’m glad the move went well. We just had frost only one night. Hopefully that was the last now that I have plants in the ground.
When I saw your photo first, I thought you had made soap (LOL)
Cookies taste better, don´t they.
Have a good day
Janine
It was FREEZING at my house too, last night and this morning. Good thing I did not pack up my winter clothes yet. And like Janine, I thought the same thing, looking at the photos. I thought you made soap too! But the lemon cookies look yummy. I bet they tasted yummy too!
The lemon cookies look heavenly!
Those cookies look yummy! I have some ricotta I need to use up. I might have to make those.
Oh my mouth is watering at the thought of those lemon cookies, we’ve actually found something edible that we both like!
Kimx
Glad you returned to my blog again and commented once more about the strawberries, I couldn’t understand the last comment you left and thought you had gone well and truly bonkers, then I realised you must have been commenting on a post that was inadvertently deleted (a long story, nearly as long as this comment!)
x
those cookies look delicious!
I’m going to have to clean of my new computer screen because I just licked it! Those cookies look like the could be my favorite kind. All lemon-y, fresh, moist and delicious. If I ever move, I hope you will send me a cookie. LOL!
Happy Day,
Cassie
They look good to me!
Yum, those lemon cookies look delicous.
Those cookies look so good. I’ve tried several lemon recipes lately that just didn’t do it for me. I’ll just have to keep trying. :D
I have to try the cookies! Lemon is my very favorite flavor. They remind me of a soft sugar cookie recipe that calls for ricotta cheese that is in a book (romance novel) written by Susan Wiggs. Yummy!!!
What a great mom to bring all that great food!
Those cookies look wayyyy too good!
I need one of those! They look sooo good and yummy too! I’m glad you had such a great weekend.
Yum!
Lemon polka dot cookies. Sounds yummy!!
LOL, this is *just* what I needed! Another great cookie recipe! Thanks a LOT Anna! Now I’ve gotta make these pronto!
It sounds as though you made it a lovely day Anna. I love anything lemony so I expect those biscuits spurred everyone on!
Oh Anna, your lemon cookies look so yummy and so does the pretty polka dot fabric!!! Do you have any plans for the fabric?
What a great picnic menu for moving day. Those cookies make me terribly hungry and it’s only 9:06 a.m. — but I want some of those. I must resist as somehow my clothes are shrinking, each and every thing in my closet. Closet gnomes are sneaking in at night while I’m asleep. Yep, that’s what’s happening.
glad to hear the move went ok — i love lemony things :-)
Hey Ms Anna – those cookies look deeee-lish. You have such a knack for taking pictures, makes me want to grab one right off the screen. Glad your moving went smoothly – wish I could have helped you – NOT, lol. It’s still all to fresh for this old girl. What’s that you say – that’s right –
NEVER MOVING AGAIN, lol.
Hugs – Mrs. Farmhouse :)
I could use many hands over here and a batch of those cookies. I’m not a lemon fan but those look delish.
I’m with Ms Farmhouse,NEVER moving again. Once I’m done here that is.
Hugs
As busy as you were it sounds like there was quite a bit of fun sprinkled in there. Oh those yummy lemon cookies. I printed off the recipe and plan to take them to my quilt group next week!
Sounds likea a fun time. . . and lemon cookies = double bonus!!
:)
Oh those cookies look divine! My hubby loves lemon. I may have to give these a try. I am off to print the recipe! ;)
Isn’t that just like you to make a miserable task fun! Moving can be hard but when you have treats and lots of people it can be a good day.
Me want lemony cookies…yummy yummy. Oops sorry, looking at those made me zone out for a bit. Would you be so kind as to bring some to our next family meeting? Thanks sis. xo
I’m glad they’re all settled in!
Yum!
I always thought that the saying that something made your mouth water was just metaphorical, but those lemon cookie literally made my mouth water!
What a fun sounding picnic.
Boy those cookies look good, I will have to make some. Clarice
Moving. Paninis. Cookies. HOW DO YOU DO IT, WOMAN!?!?! I’m salivating over the lemon ricotta cookies. SAL. I. VAT. ING! But you knew I would. And you know I knew.
And now I must find a towel to wipe up the drool puddle.
What a lovely photo shoot of those cookies! I love polka dots, your fabric is gorgeous!
Did someone say cookies? Guess I’ve got my appetite back and those might be just the ticket. Yum!
Sticky or not sticky, those lemon cookies look delicious! I’m such a fan of lemon cookies! Amongts other foods too! ;o)
My mouth waters just looking at those cookies. I wish I could have one RIGHT NOW!!!
Jody
Ooooooooooh, lemon cookies. Is there nothing they can’t do? Sorry I was having a Homer moment – d’oh! I came very close to licking my computer screen. And yes, I have printed the recipe! Thank you ever so much.
I’m sure the moving experience was made even better by your wonderful food.
