I’m Dreaming …

…of a White Christmas and it’s looking pretty iffy out there. We finally have snow, but we’re expecting a little warm-up on the weekend.  Fingers crossed that it won’t all melt! I loooove snow and we got a nice little storm over the weekend. According to the weatherman, we got 7″. It’s so pretty out the back window.

Well, how’s your holiday prep coming along??? We’re in the single digits now — only 9 more days until Christmas! I finally have a little decorating, a lot of shopping, and a little wrapping done. It’s a mess, really. Super Secret Sewing took several weekends but that’s been conquered now — Yay! And yesterday was the annual gingerbread baking day. I learned a few years ago that the gingerbread needs to be made earlier than the day before the competition to allow the gingerbread to dry out a little. That seems to help with all the cave-ins.  (Btw, here’s the link to our recipe — you still have time if you’d like to do your own gingerbread houses this year.)

So, not much to show, but there has been a LOT of work going on around here — around your house too, I’m betting.  And, I’m thinking, if you’re getting tired, you should treat yourself to a little surprise!  ;-D  I’ve put a few Moda precuts into my little shop just in case you decide to treat yourself.

(L to R:  Printemps by 3 Sisters, April Showers by Bonnie and Camille, Color Me Happy by V and Co and Le Bouquet Francais by French General)

I also have some charm packs of April Showers listed just in case you need a last minute gift for a quilty friend or two.  Or (it goes without saying) YOU.  Did you buy yourself a gift yet this year?  I haven’t bought mine yet, but it’s almost certain to be fabric LOL.

Okey Doke.  Must run.  Still a little secret knitting that needs to happen.  Good Luck with the next week — Be Good  to Yourself!!!

Anna

Five on Friday

1. The teeny tiny garden was a bust this year. {Sigh} Apparently the hail storm that ate the zinnias wasn’t enough. Something’s up with the tomatoes. They’re refusing to turn red. They go from green to something close to black.  Is there some new black tomato that I don’t know about?  I’m afraid to eat them.

2.  Look at this fun skeleton fabric I picked up in New York City last week.  I thought it would be perfect for the Dr. Child, but I don’t have a clue what to do with it.  I’ll happily take suggestions if you have any!

3.  I’ve been pouring through quilt books, thinking about what I want to work on next.  I know the Steampunks aren’t done yet, but they’re getting close.  Only 6 more blocks.  I think I have an idea what I want to do, but, as always, selecting the colors is a big problem for me.  I love them all.  What to do.  What to do.

4.  When I saw the Le Creme Swiss Dots from Riley Blake, I fell in fabric love.  I think they’re perfect for applique backgrounds and light values in blocks.  I had to have them.  And then I bought too much.  So, I’ve put some in my little etsy shop.  (Speaking of which, thank you for all the Adventure Girls love — the kits are gone now, but there are a few panels left.)

5.  Thank you to Brigette for sending me a funny on Black Tomato Day.

May your weekend be full of RED tomatoes!

We Were Made for Adventure

Do you remember when I went to quilt market in May, and I showed you a picture of The Sweet Life line of fabric by Cori Dantini — and I told you that you would be seeing it again?  No?  Well, the fabric surprise that happened while I was on vacation, is the arrival of The Sweet Life fabric that I ordered at market.  Here’s a picture of the quilt that was in the Blend Fabrics booth at market.

Thimbleanna: Cori Dantini

I fell hard for that sweet little quilt.  I think it’s the perfect quilt for the girls in our lives — for birthdays, graduations or for stepping out into a grand new adventure.  My favorite panel is the cute middle panel in the quilt above — We Were Made for Adventure.

Thimbleanna: Cori Dantini

And look at this adorable print — the little girls are doing fun things like gardening and embroidering.  Soooo, so cute!

Thimbleanna: Cori Dantini

Blend Fabrics has put out a free quilt pattern for this cute quilt.  Here’s a better shot from the pattern.

Thimbleanna: Cori Dantini

I’ve put together some kits for these cute quilts — I hope you’ll love them just as much as I do.  Each kit has almost 8 yards of fabric – enough to make the quilt, as pictured, plus a quilt back.  Plus, there will be one We Were Made for Adventure block left over — it would make a cute pillow to go with your quilt!

Thimbleanna: Cori Dantini

I can’t wait to make one for me – I’m trying to exercise some self control and finish the Steampunk blocks before I start this quilt.  Although, it will go together so quickly that it wouldn’t really hurt to let it cut in line.   I also bought some extra Adventure Girls fabric panels.  Each panel has three blocks — Dare to Fly, Enjoy Your Days, and We Were Made For Adventure.  Both the kits and the fabric panels are in my Etsy Shop.

Considering that MyDadLovesMeBestSister and CuteNiece1 jumped out of an airplane today, do you think maybe they need  We Were Made for Adventure quilts too???  (Just between you and me, I think they need We’re a Few Fries Short of a Happy Meal quilts — cah-raaay-zy!)

Back Home Again

Hello Hello! I’m back from my whirlwind trip to Quilt Market in Portland. I came back last night on the red-eye and got home mid-morning today. It’s been a busy day, so I haven’t had time to go through all my pictures. I do have a few pictures to show you, although it was such a quick and busy trip that I missed a ton of details. I had the same problem with my instagram pictures and I finally gave up on them.   Sorry.

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in here and tell you about a fun little visit we had with Heather Ross. She’s Back! and she has a sweet new line called Briar Rose. Look at her cute booth.

Thimbleanna: Heather Ross

Here’s a look at all the prints in her new line. (You can see individual shots of each print  Here).

Thimbleanna: Heather Ross

This is my favorite print. Heather told us all about the little bees. She said she is the mama bee on the left and the bee on the right is her nanny with her little girl. Then, she laughed and said “I don’t even have a nanny!”.  I love bees anyway and knowing the story makes it even cuter.  Check out that stinger on Mama Bee — I forgot to ask Heather what THAT means LOL.

Thimbleanna: Heather Ross

While we were at market, I grabbed several fat quarter bundles of Briar Rose to put in my little shop.  This line isn’t due to ship until July, so you can have these prints early!  There are 20 prints in the bundle and they retail for $70.00.  I’ve put them in the shop on sale for $60.00.  They’ll ship in a flat rate envelope for $5.90 postage in the continental U.S.  If you’re outside of the US and you’d like a bundle, shoot me an e-mail, I’ll figure out postage and then send you an invoice.

You can find the bundles Here.
SOLD OUT. Thank You!

I’ll be back soon with pictures from market!

XOXO,
Anna

Six on Saturday

1. LOOK! Lookie Look what has arrived — The Ghastlie Family Reunion! When I ordered this fabric at fall market, they told me it would be May before it would ship. All the more time to play and have fun! Isn’t that pregnant ghastlie with her baby carriage just too cute? I’ve put the Ghastlies in my little store — get ’em while you can!

Ghastlies

2. A month or two ago I caught BigDaddy buying some awful grocery store cookies, so I’ve been trying to replenish his cookie supply on the weekends. And because a batch is too much for just one person, I make the sacrifice and help him eat them. He requested something with raisins, so this week’s selection is Martha Stewart’s Raisin Bars.

Raisin Bars

3. Entry hall painting in progress — WooHoo! I was REALLY worried about the color when looking at the little sample, but I love it. It’s Latte by Sherwin Williams.

4. We had such a mild winter that the parsley in my little herb garden has come back. That never happens and I’m thrilled. (Please ignore the fact that I haven’t cleaned out my little herb garden yet. Thank You.)

5. I’ve started a new little project. Can you tell what it is? There’s not much time to get it finished!

Peter Rabbit

6. Shoot. I really don’t have six things. I just said I did ’cause Five on Saturday isn’t alliterative.

Oh Wait! I do have a 6. Have a great weekend!

XOXO,
Anna
